Introducing enhanced security on Standard Chartered Debit Cards with 3D SecureTM

3D SecureTM is a new security feature on the Standard Chartered Debit Cards which is powered by Visa and MasterCard.

Key benefits

  • Use your Standard Chartered Debit Card for Online purchases in a safe and secure manner
  • This feature comes in conjunction with the Fraud Protection Scheme on Standard Chartered Debit Cards. Cardholders are now protected against any fraudulent transaction on the Debit Card at Point of Sale (POS) ATM and Online transactions
  • No hassle of registration will be required for enabling online purchases
  • No transaction will be authorised without entering the One Time Password (OTP) sent to the customer’s registered email address &/or mobile number. As a result, instances of fraudulent usage of your Debit Card on electronic sites will be minimised considerably

Non-3D SecureTM transactions

Use details on the card
card number, expiry date, CVV)

Transaction gets authorized

3D SecureTM transactions

Use details on the card
card number, expiry date, CVV)

One time Password(OTP) gets generated

OTP gets sent to your registered email id & mobile number

Only if the OTP is correct & the card details are correct will the transaction get authorized

How does it work?

The 3D SecureTM feature offers enhanced security through an additional SMS/email authentication process when you pay online with your Standard Chartered Debit Card on websites that have incorporated the 'Verified by Visa' or 'MasterCard SecureCode' sign. This ensures that only you as the cardholder will be able to complete the online purchase.

  • 1. Shop online at any 3D SecureTM website

  • 2. Enter your Standard Chartered Debit Card details during checkout

  • 3. You will receive a one-time password (OTP) on your mobile and email address

  • 4. Enter the one-time password (OTP) in the additional screen

  • 5. Transaction completed

Keep your contact information updated

  • Please ensure that your latest mobile number and email address are updated with Standard Chartered Bank as the OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address
  • Please ensure that you have enabled pop-up windows in your browser as you will be required to enter the OTP on a pop-up window on the payment page
  • Please note that some websites are not 3D SecureTM compliant and hence do not ask for One Time Password (OTP) to authorise the transactions. These transactions are inherently unsafe as details on the card (card number, expiry date and CVV code) are sufficient to carry out the transaction. Standard Chartered Debit Card transactions on such websites will be declined.
