Standard Chartered Bank launches its 'Road to Anfield 2013' international football tournament
Successful Standard Chartered Gulf Air Falconflyer Credit Card applicants can form teams to represent Bahrain
Manama, Bahrain, 2 March 2013 - Standard Chartered Bank in Bahrain announced yesterday the launch of its 'Road to Anfield 2013' five-a-side international football tournament, where successful Standard Chartered Gulf Air Falconflyer Credit Card applicants get the chance to represent Bahrain against teams from other countries on Liverpool FC's home ground, Anfield, on 21 May. Those who would like to take part in the tournament have to submit their applications starting today until 25 March 2013 to Standard Chartered stands at Gulf Air's office in Seef Mall or Gulf Air Club.
In addition to representing Bahrain in the tournament, the winning team will be receiving flight tickets, airport transfers, a 4-night hotel stay which includes attending an English Premier League match at Anfield, a training session at the Liverpool FC Academy and playing at Anfield.
The competition, launched yesterday, is part of the Bank's campaign to promote the suite of Standard Chartered Gulf Air Falconflyer Credit Cards introduced last December. Credit card features include: the combined functions of a credit card and a frequent flyer card in one; the ability to earning miles on all banking relationships including account deposits and payments; up to 20% discount on Gulf Air flights – all year round; complimentary access to Gulf Air's Falcon Gold Lounges in Bahrain, London, Dubai and other lounges; upgrades; up to 20kgs excess baggage; complimentary Bahrain Airport transfers and up to 2400 miles on the card upon card activation.
Standard Chartered Gulf AirFalconflyer Credit Card applicants who get approved prior to 1 April can form a team(s) comprised of seven players, where the main five must also be approved credit card members during the same period; there will be two 'free players' who will be exempt from this requirement. Enrollment is based on first-come, first-served basis where the first confirmed sixteen teams will compete against each other on 5 April at the Gulf Air Club as follows: 24 seven-minute matches; two 10-minute semi matches and the final will be a 15-minute match, including half time.
Individuals who wish to play together have to apply as a group for the Standard Chartered Gulf Air FalconFlyer Credit Card, as well as ensuring thatdetails of the free players are provided. Individual applicants wishing to compete but are not part of a group will be randomly grouped with other confirmed players.
All applicants must be at the minimum age of 21 years while free players must be at least 18 years old. An approved team member may be replaced, if he/she chooses to no longer take part in the tournament. The same applies for team members who are not approved Standard Chartered Gulf Air Falconflyer Credit Card members. Teams are free to create their own uniforms and/or bring their own bibs.
