John Peace, Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Recognises Contribution of Staff in Bahrain
90 years and continuing to reinforce the Bank's commitment since 1920
6 June 2010, Manama John Peace, Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Plc visited the Kingdom of Bahrain this week. One of the highlights of his visit was a reception with retired and new Bahraini Bank staff which demonstrated the new brand promise of being Here for good – Here for People. The retired staff worked with the Bank in the 1960's.
John Peace was accompanied by Shayne Nelson, Regional Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East and North Africa and Jonathan Morris, Chief Executive Officer for Bahrain.
The reception was an excellent opportunity for both the retired and new staff to share stories about how the Bank continues to be focused on always serving customers well. During the conversation the attendees also discussed the importance of continuing to recruit and develop local Bahraini talent, which has been a key focus of the Bank throughout the 90 years it has operated in Bahrain.
Jonathan Morris, Chief Executive Officer for Standard Chartered Bank, Bahrain said,"This reception has been a wonderful example of our long history in Bahrain and the unique role which Standard Chartered has played in supporting the development of the financial services sector in the Kingdom. Our new Bahraini staff represents the future of the bank and they, like us all, have been truly inspired by the stories we have heard today from our retired staff about Standard Chartered's history."
At the 90th anniversary celebration dinner which was held at the Ritz Carlton, the Bank took the opportunity to recognise the contribution of Mohammed Abul-Fateh. Mohammed Abul-Fateh worked for Standard Chartered for over 30 years as a Business Advisor with responsibility for accounts belonging to the Royal Family.
Standard Chartered's brand promise of "Here for good" captures the Bank's commitment to developing deep relationships with its clients and customers; its values, conduct and focus on sustainability; and its longevity, heritage and continued strong performance in markets in which the Bank operates.
