An eStatement is an electronic overview of your account activity over a period of time.

All bank customers qualify for electronic statements.

No, this service is absolutely FREE. However, customers will be charged for paper statements requested either via the branch, call centre or m-Banking.

Once you have registered for this service, your online statement will be sent to you via email, which means you will no longer receive statements through the post.

We can send eStatements to two email addresses, so simply register where you want them to be sent to.

Our eStatement service is subject to all applicable terms and conditions.

OTP is a “One-Time Password” which is randomly generated and sent to your registered mobile number for validation of the transaction. This is to provide an enhanced level of security on card transactions. The OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number within 2 minutes.

The registered mobile number is a local mobile number which is linked to your Standard Chartered Bank Botswana account. The last 4 digits of the registered mobile number will be shown to you on the Authentication page when the OTP is sent. If you have not registered your mobile number with Standard Chartered Bank Botswana, please contact Standard Chartered Bank Botswana at the earliest.

It is an additional security layer adding one more step to your online purchasing process when paying using your Standard Chartered Card for verifying the identity of the cardholder.

Yes, supplementary credit cardholders can benefit from this service. The “One Time Password” (OTP) will be sent to the Primary Cardholder’s registered mobile number and Email ID.

The service is available for your Standard Chartered Visa Card now and it will work with all Verified By Visa/3D Secure online merchants.

No, but a large number of big shopping websites are providing this service and the number is increasing every day.

There is no need for any pre-registration. All you need to do is just read and accept the terms of using the service when performing your Verified By Visa/3D Secure online transaction. This will have to be done with each card each time.

  1. When you want to buy something online, usually, you will be asked to enter your basic credit card details (cardholder name), card number, Card expiry date, CVV/CVC code, & mailing address). Then, you will have to submit the details.
  2. After that, a pop up window will appear requesting you to enter your “One Time Password” (OTP). The “One Time Password” (OTP) will be sent to your mobile number and email id prior to any online purchase.
  3. Once you submit the “One Time Password” (OTP), the transaction will be sent for authorization and the merchant website will display a response to you.

In addition to the required information listed above you will be asked to read and accept the terms & conditions for using the service. Once you accept the terms, you will be able to submit the purchase request. This is a mandatory step for every card when using it to perform a Verified By Visa/3D Secure transaction.

No, Verified By Visa/3D Secure password is a “One Time Password” (OTP) that is generated every time you transact online and is not the same password that you use with your Standard Chartered Card when performing a point-of-sale (POS) based transaction or cash withdrawal from an ATM.

In case you have not received the OTP then you may choose to resend the OTP to continue using this functionality. However, please wait for 2-3 minutes before using this option.

When shopping with online merchants which are not Verified By Visa/3D Secure yet, we recommend the following:

  1. Shop with retailers which are reputable and reliable
  2. Keep a record of your online transactions e.g. bill receipt, order number, etc…
  3. Read the merchant’s terms carefully before submitting the purchase request
  4. Read carefully the delivery arrangements, cost, tax, and other information related to the product you intend to buy
  5. Make sure that the website is secured
  6. Use the latest version of your internet browser and make sure that your computer’s operating system is up to date

If you receive your credit card after more than 14 days, please call the Client Care Centre on +267 361 5800 and request for a new PIN.

You now need to change your PIN at a Standard Chartered ATM in Botswana with PIN change option.

PIN creation for a new card is a 2 step process:

  • Once your credit card application is approved and the card is created, a one-time password (OTP) is generated and sent to the phone number you provided in the credit card application. The OTP is valid for 14 days from the day you receive it. You will need the OTP to create a PIN of your choice.
  • Upon receiving your new credit card, you need to go to a Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Botswana with PIN change option.
    • Insert your credit card
    • You will be prompted to enter the OTP
    • From the menu options select the option for PIN change
    • Enter your preferred 4 digit combination you want to be your PIN
    • You can now start using your credit card

You can change your existing credit card PIN at a Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Botswana with the PIN change option.

  • Visit a Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Botswana with PIN change option and insert your credit card
  • You will be prompted to enter your existing PIN to access the menu
  • From the menu options you should select the option for PIN change
  • Enter your preferred 4 digit combination you want to be your PIN
  • Call the Client Care Centre at +267 361 5800
  • When you get to an agent, request to change your credit card PIN
  • Standard Chartered Bank will immediately send you an OTP on the mobile number we hold in our records, it is valid for 14 days
  • You should go to a Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Botswana with PIN change option and insert your credit card
  • You will be prompted to enter the OTP
  • From the menu options you should select the option for PIN change
  • Enter your preferred 4 digit combination you want to be your PIN
  • You can now start using your credit card

There is no limit to the number of times you can change your credit card PIN.

Yes, you can set your own PIN on replaced cards. Replaced credit cards will follow the same process as that of a new credit card. Refer to point 3 above.

For renewed credit cards the PIN on the expired card will continue to work on the renewed card.

Should you wish to change this PIN, you can visit the nearest Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Botswana with PIN change option and use the PIN on your expired card to change to a PIN of your choice.

No, the One Time PIN (OTP) is a temporary PIN. The One Time PIN is meant to facilitate a secure way for you to set up a PIN of your choice and then use this for Point of Sale (POS) and ATM transactions going forward.

As soon as you have created a PIN of your choice at Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Botswana, you can use your card at a point of sale or any ATM to withdraw cash.
