Margaret Harwood-Jones

Margaret joined Standard Chartered in January 2013. Her initial responsibility was leading the business agenda for Financial Intermediaries and Institutional Investor clients on a worldwide basis, across cash management, securities services, and trade finance.

In August 2016, Margaret was appointed as the Global Head of Securities Services, Transaction Banking. She is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the Securities Services business globally, leading and coordinating the activities of all functions which comprise the business unit, while retaining her former duty within this broader remit. She represents the business both across the wider bank and in the external market.

As Securities Services transitioned from Transaction Banking into Financial Markets on 2 April 2020 to form the new Financing and Securities Services business unit, all of Margaret’s existing responsibilities were carried over into the new business unit. Margaret heads the new business unit as the Global Head of Financing and Securities Services, with an expanded remit to lead the Prime Services product globally.

Besides her role at the Bank, Margaret is Vice Chair and a Board Member of the International Securities Services Association (ISSA), representing Standard Chartered. In addition, she is a Director of Zodia Custody, the leading institution-first digital asset custodian, a majority owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered.

Margaret has four decades of experience in financial services, 30 years of which has been within the securities services industry. Previously in senior manager positions at BNP Paribas, and before that at HSBC, Margaret has undertaken roles in global sales management, relationship and service management, marketing, strategic development and business unit leadership for global custody and corporate trustee activity.

Margaret is a Chartered Individual of the Securities and Investment Institute and an Associate of the Institute of Bankers. Margaret holds a General Management Programme certificate granted by the European Centre for Continuing Education, INSEAD, France.
