About the Banking Talent Programme

The Banking Talent Programme is a joint initiative between the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong (Limited) to nurture young talents for the industry and provide participants with an opportunity to better prepare for future careers in the banking sector. The Programme targets fresh graduates from local universities who will be offered six-month full-time opportunity and industry-specific training.

Eligibility

  • We welcome students graduating with a bachelor's degree from all degree disciplines in 2021
  • Students in the final year of their bachelor’s degree graduating from local universities
  • Candidates must have the legal right to work on a permanent basis in Hong Kong
  • We're unable to sponsor work permits for this programme

Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme - Hong Kong

The Greater Bay Youth Employment Scheme (“the Scheme”), launched  by the HK Government, to encourage and support young people to work and pursue their careers in the Mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. As a key player in GBA, Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited is participating in the Scheme and will offer a 18-month full-time opportunity to recent graduates and allow them to understand the latest developments of both Hong Kong and those cities and leverage the opportunities for career advancement in the GBA.  

Eligibility

  • Students graduating with a bachelor's degree from any degree discipline from 2019 to 2021 from local/ overseas universities.
  • Candidates must have the permanent legal right to work in Hong Kong.
  • We’re unable to sponsor work permits for this programme.
  • The roles will be based in Guangzhou and/ or Shenzhen, except for Software Engineer, which will be based in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Fintech Career Accelerator Scheme (FCAS)

The Fintech Career Accelerator Scheme ("FCAS") is a talent development scheme launched by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) in 2016 to expand the fintech talent pool in Hong Kong. This is a full-time, semester-based internship where interns will work on fintech projects for one year. 

Eligibility

  • Students who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of undergraduate study.
  • All disciplines are welcomed.
  • Strong interest and motivations to learn and explore Fintech.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.

How to apply

  • Students will be invited to apply to the Programme through an online platform managed by HKMA, which will share the applications with participating firms that the students have expressed an interest in working for. Applicants who are interested in working at Standard Chartered Bank will need to go through the Bank’s standard online assessments as part of the selection process.

What you'll do

  • Work on a wide range of fintech projects which may include distributed leger technologies, artificial intelligence, payment, regtech and cyber security.
  • Close collaboration with business stakeholders to bring new and innovative products to the market, responsible for analysis, design, development, and implementation of the products.
  • Support the eXellerator’s pipelines and activities.
  • Support the Bank’s fintech accelerator, facilitate application selection process, project coordination and networking activities.
  • Run awareness programme to promote fintech and innovative culture within the Bank.
  • Conduct detailed, in-depth marketing research and data analysis.
  • Organise employee volunteering activities to encourage the Bank’s staff to participate in community events and contribute to society.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and tasks as required.

Private Wealth Management Association (PWMA)

Private Wealth Management Association apprenticeship which is co-organised by HKMA and PWMA, provides university students with “front-to-back” experience in the private wealth management business for sixteen weeks. The students will work in a range of functions at our Private Banking business, learning about different product knowledge, client services, as well as risk management, compliance and internal control. The experience gained through this programme will provide students with a solid foundation for a career in the industry of private wealth management.

Eligibility

  • Students studying any discipline, not limited to finance or business, are encouraged to apply for the Programme.
  • Any full-time students in their second to third year of study, at any universities funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) are welcome to apply.
