Early careers UK - student opportunities

Virtual Insight Events

We encourage you to attend our virtual Insight Sessions held throughout the year.  They offer you the opportunity to gain an understanding about who Standard Chartered is, our values and to ensure we are the right company for you.  It also gives you an opportunity to meet the Early Careers team and those who support and develop our apprentices.

You'll learn about the application process and get an insight into our assessment process with an open Q&A forum for any questions you may have.

Throughout your apprenticeship, Career Pathway sessions will focus and support you in achieving your career ambitions.  Although employment is not guaranteed beyond your apprenticeship, we strive for deployment into permanent employment within the Bank.  Following completion, you will be encouraged to develop the next generation of apprentices through Ambassador programs and mentoring.

UK Eligibility

To comply with requirements of the apprenticeship levy, applicants must:

  • Must have the right to work in England
  • Must spend at least 50% of their working hours in England
  • Must not hold a qualification that is equal or higher than the apprenticeship qualification in the same or a related area of study.

London Spring Insight Programme

  • Through time spent rotating with Financial Markets, CCIB Coverage, Corporate Finance, Transaction Banking, and Risk, students have the opportunity to fully explore which function fits their skillset best before selecting where they would like to complete a Summer Internship
  • The structured programme also provides a mixture of lecture-based sessions, exercises, and extensive networking
  • Students who excel will be extended an offer immediately to join us on our London Summer Internship Programme the following year in their preferred department

UK Eligibility

  • Candidates must be in their first year of undergraduate study (or second year of a four-year course)

  • Participants will be evaluated during the week long placement for a place on our Summer Internship Programme in London the following year. This in turn is a pipeline for our exclusive International Graduate Programme.
