Why does Standard Chartered offer electronic shareholder communications? show/hide

Current legislation allows companies to communicate shareholder information electronically. For shareholders, this means you can access it instantly, wherever you are. For us, the main benefits are cost savings and a reduction in the use of natural resources.

What computer equipment do I need to receive electronic shareholder communications?show/hide

If you have a computer linked to the Internet you'll almost certainly be able to receive shareholder communications electronically. If you don't have a computer, public internet facilities such as those available in libraries offer a good alternative.

In addition to an e-mail account, you'll need a web browser and a PDF reader. The PDF reader is necessary as we send many of our electronic communications in PDF format. If you don't have a PDF reader. click here to download Adobe Acrobat for free.

You should also be able to receive shareholder communications electronically on a BlackBerry or similar handheld device.

How can I register to receive electronic shareholder communications?show/hide

You can register here. In addition to receiving shareholder communications, you'll be able to check your shareholdings and download forms to change your details on the share register, for example, to record a change of address or change in ownership of shares.

When you register, we'll ask you to enter your Shareholder Reference Number (SRN), which you'll find on your share certificate, dividend tax voucher or the form of proxy accompanying the Annual Report and Accounts. For certificated holders, the SRN will start with a C followed by 10 digits. For CREST holders, the SRN will start with a G followed by 10 digits.

Also, during the registration process we'll ask you to agree to the terms and conditions of the services. Please read these carefully, as they set out the basis on which shareholder communications will be sent to you.

How will I know when to look for new shareholder information?show/hide

Each time we issue a shareholder communication you'll receive an e-mail alert with a link to the relevant documents.

Will I be able to print the documents?show/hide

Will you use my email address for anything else?show/hide

We will only use your email address for electronic shareholder communications.
