Tell us about your journey so far with Standard Chartered.

I joined Standard Chartered Singapore five years ago as the Head of Business Solutions within the Liquidity team. After learning about the position, I was attracted to the role as the opportunities and scale of work offered were a perfect fit for my aspirations at that point in time. The duties and responsibilities of the role were an ideal culmination of my previous experience whilst offering challenges and the opportunity to progress. I was then promoted to Solutions Architect in 2020 and in 2022, I relocated to Poland to begin my dual role as an in-house Engineering Chapter Lead and Liquidity Technology Location Lead.

What are you responsible for in your role as the Engineering Chapter Lead?

As an Engineering Chapter Lead at Standard Chartered Poland, I am responsible for leading a wide range of developers with diverse skill sets to build an efficient and effective strategic treasury function. My team and I are heavily focused on adopting DevSecOps and technology best practices. We build exciting systems with business outcomes such as ensuring the Bank always has the funds to pay our stakeholders, monitoring income sensitivity under various interest rate scenarios and determining internal pricing between business units to ensure the Bank is able to provide competitive rates to our customers.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced so far in your role?

The greatest challenge that I have faced since joining the Bank is time. I thrive off having great responsibility, but there are times when it is difficult to manage all the hats that I wear. Thankfully, my team and manager are exceptionally supportive and happy to aid me with my workload when I require an extra pair of hands.

What is your proudest achievement since joining Standard Chartered?

As the Technology Team’s Chapter Lead, I am responsible for managing the well-being of my team and providing them with opportunities to accelerate their careers. I am particularly proud of my positive contributions to the careers of more than 100 colleagues within the past five years. Helping people to grow and realise their potential is incredibly fulfilling and I am proud of the difference I have made in their professional lives.
