How do I enrol for EBPP?


Step 1 – Add Payee

  • Logon Standard Chartered Online Banking to add Participating Merchants* via “Add Bill Payee
  • If the Participating Merchants* have been previously added, directly go to “View and Pay Bill

*Note: Participating Merchants mean they have registered with HKICL Services Limited to provide the EBPP services


Step 2 – Go to “View & Pay Bills” page

  • Go to “View & Pay Bills” page
  • Participating Merchants will have “Available to Enrol” in e-bill status for enrolment
  • Subscribe EBPP by clicking “Enrol e-bill Summary


Step 3 – Input Enrolment Data

  • Complete the enrolment page
  • Specify whether you are the bill owner and input information of your own
  • To register third party bill, input personal information of the third party such as his/her full name, HKID, date of birth or subscription code where applicable
  • Click “Next” to double check the input details


Step 4 – Confirm and Submit

  • Read and accept the EBPP terms & conditions and “Confirm” to submit the enrolment request
  • After the enrolment request is submitted, the e-bill status will become “Pending e-bill Summary Enrolment
  • After the e-bill enrolment has been approved by your merchant, you will receive a SMS reminder^
  • Click “Next“ to double check the input details

How to view e-Bill?


Step 1 – Go to “View & Pay Bills” page

  • You will receive an SMS^ reminder when your e-bill is ready in Standard Chartered Online Banking
  • Logon Standard Chartered Online Banking and go to “View & Pay Bills” page
  • Your latest bill amount and bill due date will be shown upfront
  • Click “View e-bill Summary” of your merchant to list out the latest and past e-bills

Step 2 – Select the e-bill

  • Latest e-bill record will be listed first
  • View the e-bill summary by clicking the “Issue Date”


Step 3 – View the e-bill summary

  • View the e-bill summary
  • For further bill details, please contact your merchant or go to your merchant’s website if provided.

How to pay the Bill?



Step 1 – Go to “View & Pay Bills”

  • Approximately 5 days before due, you will receive a due date SMS reminder^.
  • Logon Standard Chartered Online Banking and go to “View & Pay Bills
  • Select the Bill Payee
  • You can select at most 5 bills at a time
  • Alternatively, you can perform bill payment while viewing your e-bill summary on the same page
  • Click “Pay Bill
  • If you have not registered EBPP service or your EBPP enrolment request  is not approved yet, you can still continue to pay your bill via “Pay Bill” button

Step 2 – Confirm and Submit

  • The latest e-bill amount will be displayed. You can amend the bill amount for your need
  • You can setup a post dated bill payment or setup a repeated bill payment transaction for your ease-of-bill management
  • Click “Next” and then “Confirm” to submit the payment request

    Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment Service (EBPP) enables Standard Chartered Online Banking customers to register, receive, view and pay bills anytime and anywhere via the Bank's internet banking, achieving a more effective management of all bills and payments without any geographical constraints.

  2. How can I enrol an EBPP service?
    Merchants with EBPP service provided have “Available to Enrol e-bill Summary” in e-bill status. You can enrol an EBPP service via your Standard Chartered Online Banking. After the merchant confirms the enrolment request, you can receive and view the e-bill and make payment on the same platform.

  3. Can I enrol my parent's or friend's bills on my EBPP service?
    Yes, provided that the bill owner agrees and the merchant allows third party enrolment. A related template will be prompted for you to enrol. To enrol a third party eBill, you also need to provide the bill owner’s personal information such as date of birth (month & year), a partial identity number or subscription code (if applicable) for merchant validation.

  4. How long does it take for enrolment?
    The standard service lead time for merchants should be no more than 60 days. You will also be informed by us via SMS about the result of your request.

  5. How do I know if a new e-bill has arrived?
    When an e-bill is ready in your Standard Chartered Online Banking, you will receive reminder from us via SMS.  Please log on Standard Chartered Online Banking 'View & Pay Bills' page and check the e-bill summary.

  6. Is there any reminder when the e-bill is due?
    Approximately 5 days before due, you will receive SMS friendly reminder from us.  Since SMS especially via roaming is not guaranteed, you are advised to log on your Online Banking “View & Page Bill” page to manage your bills and payments.

  7. How many e-bill summaries will be retained?
    At most 12 e-bill summaries will be retained. You can print it for your record.

  8. I have enrolled my e-bill with Standard Chartered Bank. Can I enrol the same e-bill at another bank?
    Yes. The same bill account number is allowed a maximum of five enrolment requests, no matter whether it is in the same or different banks.

  9. My insurance premium is paid in US dollars. Can I register non-Hong Kong dollar e-bills in the service?
    Yes, but it depends on the participating merchants. Only bills in HKD denomination can be settled via Bill Payment service of our Online Banking. If you would like to settle non-HKD bill via Online Banking, please check with your Participating Merchant for the HKD equivalent amount of the bill before effecting bill payment request. The bill payment system will debit your HKD account for payment.

  10. After paying the e-bill via Standard Chartered Online Banking, do I have any e-receipt?
    At the moment we do not provide any e-receipt. You can check the payment transaction status from Standard Chartered Online Banking. We are striving to raise our service standard and planning to provide this service in future.

  11. Why is the number of Participating Merchants in Standard Chartered Online Banking lesser than that in some other Banks?
    We note that the number of Participating Merchants in Standard Chartered Online Banking is different from that in other Banks. Nevertheless we are striving to serve our customer better and planning to support more Participating Merchants in future.
