  • How does aXcessPlus work?
    aXcessPlus Account comes with a globally valid Debit/ATM Card which allows customers to access all Standard Chartered Bank ATMs and provides instant cash at all Visa Network ATMs in India and abroad.

    aXcessPlus customers get free cash withdrawal facility at any Visa Network ATM in India (Charges are levied for more than 5 Non-SCB ATM transactions in a month if Average Quarterly Balance of INR 25,000 is not maintained.) The Debit Card can be used to make purchases at over 326,000 merchant outlets in India.

  • What is a debit card?
    The globally valid Standard Chartered Debit Card is the easiest way of accessing your bank account. A debit card allows you to purchase goods at Visa Electron merchant establishments and withdraw cash from any Visa Electron ATM in India and abroad using funds from your bank account.
  • Which ATMs can aXcessPlus customers use for free?
    aXcessPlus customers can withdraw cash at any Visa Network ATM in India free of any charge. (Charges are levied for more than 5 Non-SCB ATM transactions in a month if Average Quarterly Balance of INR 25,000 is not maintained.). These include all ATMs of:

  • What is the advantage of a debit card?
    Debit card offers tremendous convenience in payments and helps reduce the amount of cash you need to carry. Besides you always stay in control of your finances as you can only spend what you have since you access your own funds to make purchases and to withdraw cash.
  • What is the difference between a debit card and a credit card?
    The basic difference between a debit card and a credit card is that the debit card gives you access to your own money whereas the credit card is a form of loan and it accesses a line of credit offered by your bank. Put in simple terms, a debit card is a Buy Now Pay Now option while a credit card is a Buy Now Pay Later option. Therefore in a debit card there is no monthly repayment and there is also no interest charged.
  • What are the fees for holding a Standard Chartered Debit Card?

  • Is there any transaction charge levied each time the Debit Card is used?
    You have free access to all Standard Chartered Bank ATMs and are entitled to free cash withdrawals at any Visa Network ATM in India. (Charges are levied for more than 5 Non-SCB ATM transactions in a month if Average Quarterly Balance of INR 25,000 is not maintained.)
  • Which outlets will accept the Standard Chartered Debit Card?
    The Standard Chartered Debit Card is welcomed at all merchant establishments and ATMs that accept Visa Electron in India and Abroad. Get instant cash at over 20,000 ATMs across India and over 10,00,000 ATMs across the world through the Visa network. And get a globally valid Debit Card that lets you shop at over 3,26,000 outlets in India and at over 14 million outlets across the world.
  • What will be the mode of payment in case of a Debit Card?
    There will be no monthly outstanding in case of a Debit Card. Your account will be instantly debited to the extent of purchases made and amount withdrawn from the ATMs on the debit card.
  • What is the procedure to be followed in case of loss of the Debit Card?
    It is important that you report the card loss immediately by calling the Phone Banking staff. You are also advised to send a letter to the bank at the address / fax no. advised to you by the Phone Banking executives.
  • What are the charges I have to pay for replacement of the lost card?
    As per the SOSC.
  • What is the daily withdrawal limit on Platinum Debit Card?
    For Employee Banking customers, the daily withdrawal limit is INR 50,000 at ATM and INR 200,000 at POS(Point of Sale). For other customers, the daily withdrawal limit is INR 200,000 at ATM and POS (Point of Sale) each.
  • What will be the time required by the bank for the processing of a Debit Card?
    Your Debit Card will reach you within 3-weeks of the receipt of your application form.
  • Will I be able to use my Debit Card at petrol pumps?
    Yes. For applicability please refer to the SOSC.
  • What will be the validity period of my Debit Card?
    Your Debit Card will be valid for 7 years from the date of issue.
  • Who can be a Debit Card holder?
    Only customers who are sole account holders or joint holders with 'either or survivor' operating mandate can become a debit card holder.

Parivaar Account

  • What is the minimum balance requirement in Parivaar?
    An average balance of Rs. 25,000 per quarter across all accounts
  • Will the main account's balance be aggregated with the balances in add-on accounts for the purpose of calculating the average quarterly balance?
    Yes.
  • Who can be included in 'family'?
    Apart from you and your spouse, parents, parents-in-law, siblings and children can be included in Parivaar.
  • How many accounts can the family open?
    Up to four aXcessPlus savings accounts can be clubbed in a Parivaar Account. These accounts may be opened jointly or on a sole basis. Each account will carry its own operating mandate. You don't have to be a joint account holder in these accounts to avail of Parivaar benefits.
  • How many individuals can a family have?
    The family may have up to five individuals. These five persons may open up to four accounts, as described above. The accounts may be in any combination - for example, family members defined as - self, spouse, one parent and two children.
  • Will aXcessPlus benefits be available on my Parivaar Account?
    Yes, aXcessPlus savings account benefits will continue to be available to Parivaar customers. FREE* cash withdrawals at other banks' ATMs will be available for accounts that maintain minimum balances as per Parivaar requirements.

  • What is the Rewards program on e-transactions?
    Standard Chartered Bank is offering its savings account customers reward points on a host of electronic debit transactions. These reward points can be accumulated over the year and received as a cash-back**, where 1 reward point = 1INR.
  • Who is eligible for the Rewards program?
    The Rewards Programme would be offered to our Savings Account customers maintaining the minimum required average quarterly balance.
  • What are e-transactions?
    Electronic financial transactions carried out using any of the electronic channels such as ATM, Standing Instructions, Electronic Clearing Service, Internet Banking are called e-transactions.
  • What is the condition for redeeming reward points?
    A minimum of 500 reward points should be accumulated for redemption.

  • When will the customer get the cash back**?
    The cash back** amount will be credited into the bank account of the customer on request placed with Phone Banking team by the customer.
  • Is there a cap on the maximum number of points that can be earned on Standard Chartered Bank ATM Financial transactions and Online Banking Financial transactions?
    Yes, the maximum number of points that can be earned per month on Standard Chartered Bank ATM Financial transactions is 20 and on Online Banking Financial transactions is 30.
  • How long does the cash back** take after the customer has called Phone Banking?
    The cash will be credited into the account of the customer within 5 working days after a request to redeem reward points is made by the customer with the Phone Banking team.
  • How will the reward points be calculated?
    The reward points for e-transactions are calculated from the table as given in the first part of FAQs. All other reward programmes announced by the bank are separate and their limits and eligibility cannot be clubbed with this offering.
  • What is the validity of the reward points?
    Reward points earned during a year (from 1st January to 31st December of a year) are valid till June 30th of the next year and should be redeemed within this period.
  • Will the current reward points on Debit Card POS spends at merchant establishments continue?
    Yes, the current reward and loyalty programme on Debit Card POS spends at merchant establishments will continue in addition to Points for e-transactions.
  • Is there a cap on the maximum number of points that can be earned on Standard Chartered Bank ATM Financial transactions and Online Banking Financial transactions?
    Yes, the maximum number of points that can be earned per month on Standard Chartered Bank ATM Financial transactions is 20 and on Online Banking Financial transactions is 30. Banking Ombudsman Scheme, 2006

Business Plus Account
  • What does the Banking Ombudsman Scheme (the Scheme) offer you?
    The Banking Ombudsman Scheme, 2006 (which has been brought into force w.e.f 1st January 2006), offers you recourse for resolution of:
    • your complaints, by the Banking Ombudsman, against your bank, in respect of such services of the bank which are stipulated under the Scheme; and
    • resolution of claim of the bank against you, by the Banking Ombudsman (as an arbitrator), provided that the value of the claim in such dispute does not exceed Rs.10 lakhs ;
    without affecting your right to go to court, in case you are not satisfied with the Award of the Banking Ombudsman, under the Scheme.
  • How does Banking Ombudsman assume jurisdiction under the scheme?
    Under the Scheme, the Banking Ombudsman assumes jurisdiction on receipt of complaints against a bank alleging deficiency in banking service for consideration and resolution of such complaints.

    As an arbitrator, the Banking Ombudsman assumes jurisdiction on receipt of reference of a dispute (between a bank and its constituents or between a bank and another bank) with mutual consent of both the parties, for arbitration.
  • What sort of disputes the Banking Ombudsman can consider in respect of deficiency in banking service?
    Banking Ombudsman is competent to receive and consider complaints of following nature;
    • non-payment/inordinate delay in the payment or collection of cheques, drafts, bills, etc;
    • non-acceptance, without sufficient cause, of small denomination notes tendered for any purpose, and for charging of commission in respect thereof;
    • non-issue of drafts to customers and others;
    • non-adherence to prescribed working hours by branches;
    • failure to honour guarantee/letter of credit commitments by banks;
    • claims in respect of unauthorized or fraudulent withdrawals from deposit accounts, or fraudulent encashment of a cheque or a bank draft, etc;
    • complaints pertaining to the operations in any savings, current or any other account maintained with a bank, such as delays, non-credit of proceeds to parties' accounts, non-payment of deposit or non-observance of the Reserve Bank directives, if any, applicable to rate of interest on deposits;
    • complaints from exporters in India such as delays in receipt of export proceeds, handling of export bills, collection of bills, etc. provided the said complaints pertain to the bank's operations in India;
    • complaints from Non-Resident Indians having accounts in India in relation to their remittances from abroad, deposits and other bank-related matters;
    • complaints pertaining to refusal of open deposit accounts without any valid reason for refusal and
    • any other matter relating to the violation of the directives issued by the Reserve Bank in relation to banking service.
  • How does Banking Ombudsman function as an arbitrator?
    Banking Ombudsman functions as an arbitrator in respect of any dispute (between a bank and its constituents)

  • How does aaSaan work? What is different about aaSaan? What is special about it?
    aaSaan is a "no minimum balance account" which has fully loaded features. For example, without committing to a minimum balance, you get:
    • First 5 ATM financial and non-financial transactions in a month are free from domestic Non-SCB VISA ATMs(maximum per transaction value Rs.10,000), post which there is a charge of Rs.20. Refer to the Schedule of Service Charges for charges

    You can access your account any number of times from SCB ATMs for aaSaan. As for Domestic Non-SCB VISA ATMs, you get 5 FREE ATM financial and non-financial transactions per month.

    A cheque payable at a location other than the location where it is presented is called an outstation cheque. Clearing of these outstation cheques is called cheque collection facility. This facility is especially important if you have business interests in other cities & get their payment by way of cheques payable in those cities. These outstation cheques at times take more than 20 to 25 days to clear depending on the location. We have:

  • I am an existing customer of Standard Chartered Bank with Rs.10 lakhs average quarterly balance - will I automatically get the Enhanced Business Plus Current Account product offer?
    No. There is a signup process that is required to be followed. Only customers who are willing to commit, and sign-up for one of the two module options will be offered the Enhanced Business Plus benefits.
  • I have an existing Enhanced Business Plus 500 account. I hear that this has been withdrawn. Does this affect my services?
    All existing Enhanced Business Plus 500 account will now be converted to Enhanced Business Plus 100 accounts. You will find that there is no change in the features or services. Actually, the features on the Enhanced Business Plus 100 account have been upgraded to ensure that they are superior to the Enhanced Business Plus 500 account. So for a lower balance requirement you will get better features.
  • What is Doorstep Banking?
    Doorstep Banking involves the following:
    • Pick-up - cash, cheque, customer instructions
    • Delivery - cash, drafts / pay order
  • I maintain Rs. 5 Lakhs in my account, can I sign up for an Enhanced Business Plus 100 account?
    Yes, you can. The choice is entirely yours.
  • If I sign up for, say an Enhanced Business Plus 100 account, but I maintain a higher average balance, say 10 lakhs, will I get the services of higher average balance product (Enhanced Business Plus 1000 product benefits in this case)?
    The services offered to an Enhanced Business Plus customer will depend on the type of product signed up for by you, irrespective of higher balances maintained in the account subsequently. If you wish, you could do a fresh sign up to upgrade to a higher level of services.

  • What is the limit of cash back that I earn on this card?
    You can earn cash back up to a maximum of INR 100 per transaction and a maximum of INR 500 per month.
  • Is this instant cash back?
    No, the cash back is not instant the cash back will be credited after the month is over.
  • Do I need to redeem my cash back?
    Cardholder need not redeem cash back. The cash back will be credited to the accountwith in 14 working days of next month.
  • What is the amount up to which I can make payments with the help of a Cash Back Platinum Debit Card?
    You can make use of your Cash Back Platinum Debit Card to a maximum daily limit of Rs.200,000 for cash withdrawals and another Rs.200,000 for making purchases, subject to balances being available in your account.
  • What is Global Customer Assistance Service being offered on the Cash Back Platinum Debit Card?

  • What is the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card?
    Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card is a prepaid Foreign Currency card that makes your foreign trip totally hassle-free and convenient. You can load this Prepaid Card with Foreign Currency (USD, EURO, GBP) in India and use it to withdraw cash in the local currency from over 8,50,000 MasterCard ATMs and shop at over 13 million merchant establishments accepting MasterCard Flag cards.

    The card is sold through Standard Chartered Bank branches and select Money Changers. This is the only Gold Card in the country, with the concomitant peerless benefits and free access to lounges in International Airports in India & advanced account management features.

  • How does this Prepaid Card work?
    The Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Prepaid Card can be used as a Debit Card for effecting transactions at ATMs & POS terminals.

    You can load a Prepaid Card by funds at the time of purchase of the card. After loading, you can use the card for cash withdrawal or for shopping at merchant outlets. With each transaction the remaining value on the card would be decreased.

    You can continue to use your card as long as some funds remain on the card account. You can recharge the card with more funds before your next trip when you return to India.
  • How is a SmartTravel Card better than a normal International Debit Card?
    An International Debit Card incurs certain charges for ATM & POS transactions in international locations. However a SmartTravel Prepaid Card will be treated as a local card in the designated country thereby incurring no charges for ATM & POS transactions e.g. a USD denominated Prepaid Card will be treated as a local card in the US but will be treated as an international card in other locations*.

    Any citizen of India who is a customer of Standard Chartered Bank and subject to their furnishing the requisite documents, are eligible for the card.
  • How do I get a Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card?
    You can walk into any of the select Standard Chartered Bank branches to get a SmartTravel Card. Kindly call our Phone Banking desk to get a list of branches offering this facility. Going forward this facility will be available at authorized dealers' outlets, travel agents and select corporates.
  • When can I start using the card?
    A non-personalised card is given over-the-counter. In case of cash deposit for loading the card, the card is activated instantly. In case of cheque deposit, the card will be activated after the realisation of funds, which typically takes 3-4 days.
  • What documents are needed during purchase/ recharge?
    During purchase of a Standard Chartered Bank's SmartTravel Card you need to provide the following:
    • Passport
    • A2 form (if load amount exceeds $5000)
    • Visa (not mandatory)
    • PAN Card (Form 60, in case you do not have a PAN number)
    You would also need to fill up and sign the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card reload form. The same documents need to be provided at the time of reload. In case of a relative or friend depositing cash on behalf of the cardholder, a letter of authority from the customer may also be required.
  • Can I buy more than one Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card?
    No, each customer is entitled to only one card at a time
  • Can I transact in currencies other than the base currency using the SmartTravel Card?
    Yes, your Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card allows you to transact (cash withdrawal and point-of-sale transaction) in any local currency*.

    For any currency other than the base currency, there will be an exchange rate which will be applied. It is to be noted that in the destination country (i.e. USA for an USD denominated card, England for a GBP denominated card) there is no exchange rate applicable for transactions. However for transactions in any other currency, MasterCard exchange rates will apply.

  • How do I withdraw cash from an ATM using the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card?
    To withdraw cash from an ATM, just check for MasterCard, Cirrus or Maestro logos on the ATM. In case of presence of the logo, insert the card in the card slot of the ATM as instructed on the ATM panel. The ATM would prompt for the PIN number. Please enter the ATM PIN of your card. Once your ATM PIN is validated, it would prompt you to enter the amount of cash requested. Enter the amount of cash you would need. In case your Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card has the funds requested by you, it would be dispensed.
  • Is there a limit to the maximum amount of cash that I can withdraw?
    Standard Chartered Bank does not restrict the amount of cash that can be withdrawn during a single transaction. Some ATM acquirers, however, set transaction limits. In such a case, the card may be used at a nearby ATM to withdraw more cash.
  • Can an ATM be used to check the amount of funds remaining on the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card?
    Balance enquiry is possible on MasterCard-enabled ATMs. However, there will be a nominal charge for the same (please refer to the schedule of service charges).
  • Are there any charges for using a MasterCard ATM?
    Charges will be as per the schedule on the website.
  • Does an ATM receipt show the amount withdrawn and the balance available?
    Most ATMs have the facility to check the balance on a card in the local currency*.

  • What if I forget the ATM PIN of the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card?
    You can call our Phone Banking desk to hotlist your card or reset your ATM PIN/ Internet Banking PIN online. Your ATM PIN can also be reset online by logging into the prepaid site using your 16 digit card number as the user id and the Internet Banking PIN as the password.
  • Will the ATM display foreign exchange rates that one can use before withdrawing cash?
    No. Post withdrawal of cash, with the figures for amount withdrawn and balance available, it is possible to arrive at the exchange rate charged.
  • What exchange rates are applied when a transaction is made on the card?
    Since the card is loaded with dollars, there is no exchange rate applicable for transactions in USD. However, for non USD transaction, MasterCard wholesale rates apply. These rates are generally more favourable than the rates offered by authorised dealer.
  • Will I get a periodic statement for my card account?
    The statement for the card account will be available online. Just log into the prepaid website using your card number as the user Id and the Internet Banking PIN as the password and get a detailed list of transactions effected through the card. However no paper statements shall be mailed to your residential address.
  • What are the details contained in the online statement summary?
    The online statement will contain all details of transactions effected through the card and the balance thereof. It is possible to closely monitor card transactions
  • What forex rates are charged at the time of purchase?
    The card can be bought at the ongoing forex rate of that day offered by the Standard Chartered Bank branch or the authorised dealers from where you buy the product. The Forex rates are similar to the rates charged for Travellers' Cheques.
  • What exchange rates are applied when a transaction is made on the card?
    Since the card is loaded with dollars, there is no exchange rate applicable for transactions in USD. However, for non USD transaction, MasterCard wholesale rates apply. These rates are generally more favourable than the rates offered by money changers.
  • At what rate can I get my funds refunded?
    Your funds will be refunded at the existing spot rates on the given day.
  • How can I load my card?
    Following are some of the ways you can upload funds on your account:
    • Direct Debit to your transaction account: Funds can be loaded on the card by directly debiting the transaction account you may hold with Standard Chartered Bank. Card is activated instantly
    • Cash Deposit: You can also deposit cash at one of the select Standard Chartered Bank branches to upload your card.
    • Cheque: You can upload funds on your card by depositing a cheque (from another bank). The card gets activated upon realisation of funds which typically takes 3-4 days
  • How can I confirm if my card has been loaded?
    You would get an SMS confirmation shortly after your card is loaded or reloaded or refunded. You may also call up the Standard Chartered Bank Phone Banking desk to know your balance. You can login into the website and check the transactions anytime. You can also check the balance on your card in any of our ATMs.
  • What are the amounts by which one can load the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card with?
    All FEMA regulations are applicable for the usage of this card. Hence the limits applicable to various segments of customers are as follows:

  • Can a Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card be recharged over the phone or from abroad?
    Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card cannot be recharged over the phone as a certain set of documents is required for the same. However if the cardholder is abroad, he can empower his relatives to recharge his card by either faxing across a letter of authorisation or through a Power of Attorney.
  • Can one retain the foreign exchange on the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card after returning to India?
    Your Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card is valid for 2 years. Funds can be retained in the pre-funded account for the given period. However, balances in excess of $2000 cannot be retained as dollar float as per FEMA regulations. Upon the lapsing of the validity period, the balance amount will be couriered across to the address captured in the system by PO. Refund, however, shall happen only 30 days after return.
  • How fast can I get my replacement card?
    The replacement card will be couriered to your residential address within a week's time. Your relative/ friend will have to courier it across to your off-site location. This is done to protect you from potential fraudsters.
  • How can I apply for a refund on the card?
    You can apply for a refund at any of the select Standard Chartered Bank branches, 30 days after returning from your business trip/ holiday abroad.
  • How is the Standard Chartered Bank SmartTravel Card secured against unauthorised cash withdrawals from ATMs?
    To withdraw cash from a MasterCard ATM using the Prepaid Card, you need the confidential ATM PIN which is available only to you. The ATM PIN is issued to you at the time of card purchase. Remember the 4 digit PIN number and destroy the document. Do not write it on the card. Your card would be blocked after 4 unsuccessful PIN attempts. This ensures that anyone having access to your card cannot use the card.
  • What should one do to prevent unauthorised usage in case I lose the card?
    The card comes with zero lost card liability after its loss being reported. Immediately report the loss of the card by calling our Phone Banking desk. We would block the card from any further usage. A replacement card would be sent to the address captured on the system.
  • What happens if my card is fraudulently used for POS/ ATM transactions?
    Kindly contact our Phone Banking desk to deactivate the card immediately. Simultaneously a fresh request for a new card can also be placed through the same.
  • Who bears the liability for the amount used fraudulently by an unauthorised person(s)?
    The card comes with zero lost card liability after its loss being reported. Immediately report the loss of the card by calling our Phone Banking desk. We would block the card from any further usage.

Debit & Prepaid Cards - Verified by Visa

  • How does Verified by Visa work?
    Once your card is activated with the Verified by Visa service, your card number will be recognized whenever you make an electronic payment. After you provide your debit card details online, you will be redirected to your issuer website and then required to specify your Verified by Visa authentication details. Your identity will be verified, and the transaction will be completed. Based on the authentication provided by your issuer, the transaction will be processed & you will get a confirmation.
  • Will I be charged for Verified by Visa?
    No. This service is free of charge.
  • After I register, how long does it take for Verified by Visa to become active for my card?
    The functionality of Verified by Visa is made available as soon as your registration is successful. You can use your password to login to any Verified by Visa enabled online site to carry out transactions.
  • Do I have to register for all my cards separately?
    Registration needs to be done for all cards individually.
  • If I am issued a new card is there a need for Verified by Visa registration?
    Yes. You will need to register your new card separately.
  • Where can I find the CVV?
    The CVV is printed on the reverse of the card, on the signature panel.
  • Is my personal information safe and secure?
    Yes. Your card details are encrypted and stored on a secure server.
  • When I register for Verified by Visa, it asks for the CVV, but my debit card is not having the CVV, so how do I register?
    If your card does not have a CVV number, then you would need to request for reissue of your debit card. You can do so by contacting our Phone banking unit or giving a request at your nearest branch.
  • Can I do a debit card transaction without registering for Verified by Visa?
    No, for security purposes, you will be allowed to proceed with a transaction only if you have registered for Verified by Visa.
  • Will I need to register each time I do an online internet based transaction?
    No, registration is a one-time activity for a particular card. Once a card is registered, for all subsequent transactions, only the password needs to be provided to authenticate the transaction.
  • How long is the password valid?
    There is no time frame for password expiry.
  • How do I change the password?
    You can go to "Account Assistant" tab on "Register Now for Verified by Visa" and change the password.
  • What if I forget the password that I used while registering?
    Enter the card number and Click on "Forgot your password" tab on "Register Now for Verified by Visa" and reset the same by entering the Expiry Date, ATM PIN and CVV for debit cards.
  • What is the use of PAM (Personal Assurance Message)
    When you register for Verified by Visa on www.standardchartered.co.in, you will be asked to create a Personal Assurance Message (PAM). This Personal Assurance message will be displayed each time you transact on a Verified by Visa merchant site. The merchant site is an authentic site only if the same Personal Assurance message is displayed.

    Please note that if you register for Verified by Visa during online shopping, a Personal Assurance message will be automatically created for you. We recommend that you change your PAM by visiting www.standardchartered.co.in
  • How do I get the generic PAM changed to a personalized one?
