Universal Children’s Day
Winners take home up to RM27,500 worth of goodies from Toys "R" Us
Kuala Lumpur, 20 November 2014
– Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia
(Standard Chartered) rewarded the nine winners of its Standard Chartered ‘Kids Drawing Contest’ to a 1-minute shopping spree at Toys "R" Us, IPC Shopping Centre.
The fun-filled spree saw the nine winners haul in bags of toys worth RM22,500. The event coincided with Universal Children’s Day, bringing extra joy to the nine children.
The ‘Kids Drawing Contest’ ran from 1 September to 31 October 2014 and was open to Standard Chartered principal credit cardholders with children aged between 5 and 12 years old. There was no spending requirement imposed – all the children had to do was to depict a teddy bear in their artwork.
Amnah Ajmal, Head of Retail & Personal Banking, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia said, "We had launched the contest with three top winners in mind but due to the good response and the creativity and quality of the drawings that we received, we decided to increase the number of top winners to nine."
Aside from the nine winners, 50 consolation prize-winners received Toys "R" Us vouchers worth RM100 each.
Mike Chong was in one of the nine lucky winning teams of the 1-minute shopping spree. "One minute goes by really fast," said the happy father. "This is our family’s first shopping spree and though it was a challenging task, it inspired us to work together. As a father, this was a golden moment for me to bond and teach my son the values of teamwork, which will be beneficial to him in the future. All in all, this was a thrilling and amazing experience as it felt like Christmas came early for my family!"
"This collaboration with Toys "R" Us was a natural choice as we aim to bring the widest range of rewards and deals to our cardholders. We have relaunched our merchant discount and partnership programme to provide everyday value to our customers across all lifestyle categories like dining, shopping, toys and entertainment," Ajmal added.
Standard Chartered has boosted its credit and debit card rewards by offering cardholders up to 10x rewards points at selected merchants while enjoying exclusive discounts.
Cardholders can get more for less with Standard Chartered new ‘Hot Reward Deals’ where they get almost two times more for their reward points than before.
