Standard Chartered wins CGC’s Top FI Partner Award

Only foreign bank to be honoured in the award category

Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia was recently awarded the Top FI Partner Award (Overall Category) 2016 by Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC). The Bank is the only foreign bank to have clinched the award for its contribution to the Malaysian SME ecosystem and the economy.

CGC honoured leading Financial Institutions (FI) as well as its outstanding customers for their significant contribution towards SME financing in 2016 at its annual SME Awards ceremony that was held earlier this week. The awards were presented to banks for their significant contributions towards CGC’s overall SME financing, through its guarantee schemes.

Mahendra Gursahani, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia said, “The SME sector plays a vital role in Malaysia's economic growth. Standard Chartered Bank has been providing an extensive range of financing solutions to cater to the needs of Malaysian entrepreneurs and assist in the development of the sector for over 140 years. We believe this will go a long way in ensuring that we are here for our clients and are committed to the growth and expansion of their businesses."

The awards were presented by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and witnessed by CGC Chairman Dato' Agil Natt and President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak, following the firm’s 44th Annual General Meeting.
