    • What does SMS mean?

      SMS stands for Short Message Service, also known as text messaging. This allows you to send and receive short messages via mobile. The message can contain up to 160 characters.

    • How does SMS Banking work?

      Customers simply compose and send an SMS to Standard Chartered using a pre-defined service code in the following format:

      BE<space><last 4 digits of your bank account number>

      The bank will then process your request and send the results to you via SMS.

    • What is Standard Chartered SMS Banking?

      It is a new service designed for customers who are constantly on the move. With SMS Banking, you can enquire about your account and credit card information via short text messaging.

    • What are the various service codes available?

      The service codes currently available are:
      BE - Balance Enquiry
      TE - Transaction Enquiry
      CB - Cheque book Request
      CE - Credit card Minimum payment due and Due Date
      HL - Help (please note this does not require your last 4 digits of your bank account)

      E.g. if you want to check your account balance and the last 4 digits of your bank account are 4545, simply send an SMS with 'BE 4545' to 32656. An SMS will then be sent to you displaying your account balance.
