INTERNATIONAL BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER

  • The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to introduce and implement International Bank Account Number (IBAN) number in Pakistan.
  • IBAN is an international standard for structuring account numbers. It is globally used in transaction processing especially in cross border remittances.
  • The IBAN will be operationally used both for international and domestic financial transactions post 30th June, 2013.
  • Please ensure to advise your IBAN to your Counter Parties abroad for timely remittance related transactions.
  • Use the IBAN Calculator in order to find your IBAN number.
  • Use the IBAN Validator to verify your IBAN number.

In compliance with Central Bank Circular ‘PSD Cir Let No 2 of 2012 IBAN Implementation Guidelines’, we are pleased to inform you that Standard Chartered Bank has successfully applied the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) to all your Standard Chartered Bank accounts.

International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is an international standard for identifying bank accounts (excluding credit cards). The main purpose of IBAN is to facilitate the automatic processing of money transfers, to improve the speed and accuracy of your payment transactions.

The Central Bank regulation for transactional use of IBAN takes effect on 1st July, 2013, whereby all banks in Pakistan are required to accept and process payment instructions with IBAN. Consequently, you will be required to provide an IBAN for all instructions for value date on or after 1st July, 2013 when making payment from or receiving payments to your account.

All SCB customers are requested to ensure that the IBAN for their account is communicated to all parties from whom a remittance or funds transfer to your account is expected.
