Standard Chartered Builds Fruitful Client Relationships with Durian Feast

Singapore’s largest private durian party serves more than 2,000 kilos of durian to 1,000 clients

29 July 2015, Singapore – More than 600 clients attended the first day (out of two days) of Standard Chartered Bank’s annual durian party at Clifford Square, where 1,000 kilos of durian were served. This year, in celebration of Singapore’s jubilee year, and due to the overwhelming response from clients last year, Standard Chartered Bank decided to make this the biggest durian party of the year, with an expected attendance by more than 1,000 clients and consumption of 2,000 kilos of durian over two days.

Hosting the event for the tenth consecutive year, Mr. Kenneth Tham, Head of Commercial Clients, Singapore of Standard Chartered Bank said: “Being a tropical country, Singapore may not have four seasons, but each year we have the durian season to look forward to. Not unlike the hanami season in Japan or the Ocktoberfest in Germany, locals have durian parties to share the joy of a bountiful harvest of the King of fruits. The Bank sees this as a unique opportunity to engage our clients. It is an event our durian loving clients look forward to, and an experience we share and talk about well after the event.”

The fruit buffet features three different kinds of durian – Mao Shan Wang, D24 and Green Bamboo, together with other seasonal fruits such as mangosteen, lychee, rambutan, longan, mango and strawberry. There are also live stations serving durian chendol and durian pancake throughout the evenings.
