Helping Feed the Hungry in San Francisco

Standard Chartered Women in Tech Program achieves Gender Parity
Standard Chartered is proud to have achieved gender parity in our Women in Technology Program!
Since October 2014, Standard Chartered has been working with the Zahn Center at the City College of New York (CCNY) to support calls for more diversity in the technology sector, and for more opportunities for women to develop entrepreneurial and leadership expertise. Prior to the launch of the Standard Chartered Women in Technology Incubator, female representation was at 17%. Female participation in the program has almost tripled since then to gender parity today.
Staff Team Cycles from Philadelphia to New York to Raise Funds and Awareness for Preventable Blindness
The Americas Ride for Sight is an annual tradition where staff raise funds and awareness for the Bank’s preventable blindness charity, Seeing is Believing.
2017 marked the 5th year of the ride and the team cycled 150 miles and raised USD15,000 for Seeing is Believing. Please visit www.seeingisbelieving.org to learn more.
Standard Chartered launches STEM Education Bootcamp for young women
Standard Chartered sponsors the Women+Tech incubator at the Zahn Center, City College of New York. In an effort to support S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, the Bank launched a 6 week summer program, #Bossgirls for high school students to engage young women on entrepreneurship and tech.
Participants completed the summer Bootcamp program, and learned the fundamentals of starting your own company, how to do market research, and perfect their pitch.
Reaching the Homebound Elderly with CityMeals
From delivering meals to making social visits, Citymeals offers volunteer opportunities in all five boroughs – Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and The Bronx.
Staff Teams Volunteer at the Bowery Mission
The Bowery Mission helps the homeless by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In their residential recovery programs, they address deeper needs for life and job skills training, and addiction recovery.

Standard Chartered Supports the Computer Center for Visually Impaired People
Standard Chartered employees volunteered with Baruch College’s Computer Center for Visually Impaired People (CCVIP) at their 10thAnnual Conference, “Going the Distance: Your Life, Your Way.”
For over 30 years, CCVIP has used computers equipped with the latest assistive technology: speech synthesizers, print enlargement, and braille printers - to help visually impaired people achieve their educational, professional, and personal goals.

Standard Chartered receives the "Above and Beyond" award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve ("ESGR")
Standard Chartered recently received the “Above and Beyond” award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (“ESGR”). The ESGR is a U.S. Department of Defense program established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers. The award is given to employers who are supportive of the military and understanding of the level of commitment needed to balance both military and civilian careers.
UpGlo’s partnership with Standard Chartered Bank
Standard Chartered Bank has enjoyed a partnership with UpGlo since August 2011. The partnership is multifaceted, including opportunities for employee volunteering, mentorship and talent sourcing. Through this relationship, we aim to facilitate an opportunity for staff to provide feedback, guidance and strategies to develop cross-cultural competencies and communication skills to secure employment in the U.S.
To date, over 125 Bank staff have volunteered in mock interviews, networking events, and long-term mentoring programs.
