Standard Chartered Builds Global Markets Team, Expanding Product Capabilities in the Americas

Standard Chartered announced today the following appointments to its New York-based Global Markets team.
“In recent months, we have made a series of important appointments to further our aim of being a core bank for our Americas clients with trade and investments in our core markets of Asia, Africa and the Middle East,” said Mohammed Grimeh, Americas Head of Global Markets.
Michele Nicoletta joined Standard Chartered on Aug. 31st as Managing Director, Head of Credit Trading, Americas. She is responsible for building the credit business throughout the Americas region. Michele was most recently the Head of Emerging Markets Credit Trading at Barclays Capital in New York, and held the same position within Lehman Brothers for the previous four years. Michele graduated from Villanova University.
Reporting to Michele:
John Buchanan joined on Sept. 28th as a Director, Credit Trading within the Credit business. He was previously with Barclays Capital, where he spent six years on the emerging markets trading team, most recently running the hybrid and structured credit book. John holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from The Cooper Union in New York.
In mid-October, John Chua will join as a Director, Credit Trading. John spent the last six years at ING trading Asian credit, initially in Singapore and recently in New York. John has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Reading and a master’s in finance from Imperial College Management School London. He speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay.
Vincent Cole, previously with Lehman Brothers, also joined on June 1 as a Trading Assistant. Vincent holds a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

Dean Theodorous joined on Sept. 8th as a Director, FX Trading in emerging markets. He spent more than 10 years at Goldman Sachs, where he traded Foreign Exchange across G10, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, based in NY and London. Dean has a bachelor’s degree from Villanova and a master’s of business administration from Columbia.
Jean-Yves Amouroux joined on Sept. 1st as a senior trader, structured products and exotics. He joins from Nomura Financial Products, where he spent the last four years. Prior to that, he spent eight years with Dresdner New York and Tokyo as a rate exotic trader. Jean-Yves holds a bachelor’s degree from INT, Paris, and a master’s degree from Tokyo University. In addition to his native French, he speaks fluent Japanese.
Sunjesh Bagaria joined the bank on May 18th as a G10 Rates Trader. He was most recently with Goldman Sachs, where he worked on the USD Interest Rate Swaps Trading Desk. Sunjesh graduated from MIT.
Harvey Black joined on Sept. 28th as Head of Investor Sales, Americas. He joins Standard Chartered from Forum Asset Management, where he was the Head of Marketing. Prior to that, Harvey was head of Emerging Market Sales at Bank of America. He brings over 20 years experience in emerging markets sales and trading across FX, rates, and credit. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a master’s of business administration from the University of Southern California.
Thomas Fennell will join on Nov. 2 as Director, Money Market Sales. He brings to the bank 15 years of money markets sales and trading experience, including at HSH Nordbank and Deixa Credit Local.
Hugo Faria joined on Sept. 30th as Managing Director, Head of Structuring, Americas. Hugo was most recently with UBS, where he was head of emerging markets structuring, Americas. He brings 20 years experience in structuring FX, Rates, Commodities and Credit across emerging markets and the United States. Hugo holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale and a master’s degree from Columbia. He speaks French, Italian and Spanish in addition to his native Portuguese.
Marcy Swank joined on Aug. 3rd as Director, Credit Sales. Marcy has over 20 years of financial markets experience, specializing in emerging market distribution in both New York and Hong Kong across credit, rates and FX. Most recently, she was head of Emerging Markets sales at ABN/RBS. Marcy holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
Nilson Strazzi joined Standard Chartered on Aug. 24th as Head of Latin American Banks Sales. Nilson joins the Bank from Barclays Capital, where he was responsible for cross-asset coverage to Latin American Institutional clients. Nilson holds a bachelor’s degree form Fundacao Armando Alvares Peanteado, Sao Paulo, Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
Peter Ristine joined on July 13th as Head of Banks Sales, North America. He had been with Citibank for 15 years, most recently responsible for interest rate sales to North American Banks. Peter holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Florida.
Alexis Lasser joined the Bank from Barclays Capital on July 6th as Managing Director and Head of Illiquid and Private Placements, with a mandate to drive the growth of SCB’s private capital market transactions. Alexis spent the past 12 years at Lehman Brothers, where her most recent position was Managing Director and Head of Private Capital Markets Group.
Russell Ashcraft joined the Bank on July 31st as Director, Head of US Bond Syndicate, focusing on the cross-border bond business. Russell was recently with the Emerging Market and US Corporate Debt Syndicate Group at RBS after having spent many years covering the emerging markets at ING and JP Morgan.
Anthony Ghibesi joined on Sept. 14th as Head of NY middle Office Financial Markets Operations. He held a similar position at Barclays. Anthony graduated from Saint Peter’s College.
Jack Li joined on Sept. 7th as Head of Product Control, Americas. Jack was previously a managing director at Bear Sterns. He graduated from NYU Stern Business School and is a member of CPA New York.--ENDS--
