How to train for Everest

Climbing Mount Everest is hard work. In the words of Horacio Galanti, "it's something you spend your whole life preparing for."

Practice makes perfect

Horacio Cunietti lives at the base of Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, South America’s tallest mountain. In 2012, Horacio broke a world record when he successfully climbed this 6,900 metre peak for the 57th time. He also holds the record for the most winter summits of Aconcagua’s northwest ridge. As a Professor of Mountaineering and professional mountain guide, the world’s tallest peaks are his classroom.

Horacio Galanti’s no couch potato either – this civil engineer has biked 500km across the Andes, run the legendary 125km Canadian Death Race through the Rocky mountains, and climbed some of the world’s highest peaks. He's estimated the total elevation of all the mountains he's climbed at over 180,000 metres.
