Mr. Alpha A. Barry
Chairman, Standard Chartered Bank Gambia limited

Mr. Alpha A. Barry was appointed to The Gambia Board as Chairman on 1st July, 2016 replacing Mr. Momodou B.A. Senghore, who had served as The Gambia Chairman from 2000 until his retirement on 30th June, 2016.

Mr. Barry was the Country Managing partner of the Gambia practice of Deloitte which provides Corporate Finance, Transaction and Valuation Services and other services across Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Cameroon. Mr. Barry was based in the Deloitte Headquarters for the West Africa Cluster in Lagos Nigeria which was involved in building up the Corporate Finance Business Unit. In December 2013 he set up his boutique advisory practice based in The Gambia mainly executing opportunities in Nigeria.

Mr. Barry is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and also possesses a Masters degree in Maritime Studies from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff. He completed the London Business School Corporate Finance Modular Programme in London, England in 2010.

Mr. Barry has been involved in several professional services delivery to clients and as a result has acquired extensive financial advisory and practice management expertise with an incredible network of contacts across West Africa.



Olukorede Adenowo
Chief Executive Officer

Olukorede Adenowo (K.O) is currently Chief Executive Officer for Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) The Gambia with dual responsibility for SCBs business in Senegal. He has also been a Non Executive Director of SCB Sierra Leone from 2014 to date.

K.O has a total of 30 years post-university experience in Banking, Finance and Consulting.

In his penultimate role as Africa Co-Head Financial Institutions and Public Sector business for SCB, K.O provided strong leadership in building and managing key strategic FI relationships across West Africa. He worked closely with several Banks and Governments across the region i.e. Cameroon, Gabon, Senegal, Ghana, and most recently Nigeria in advising them on accessing international capital markets and ultimately improving the banks visibility in Public Sector for business success and growth in an increasingly stringent regulatory environment.

He has served as Managing Director, Origination and Client Corporates for Standard Chartered Bank, West and Central Africa, Deputy Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank Cameroon and Director in Wholesale Bank in Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria.

He was appointed the first Regional Head of Global Corporates for Standard Chartered Africa where he led the Africa Multinational business. He is a founding staff of SCB Nigeria and has held other positions in Standard Chartered Bank Group in the last 20 years. He has worked in Societe Generale Bank Nigeria and Deloitte Nigeria, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990.

An Economist turned Chartered Accountant; he was appointed Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Institute Accountants of Nigeria in 2000.

He is an alumnus of INSEAD and Said Business School of Oxford University where he had management training in Leadership and holds an MBA from the Lagos Business School.

He is married to Olajumoke and both have two children




Mr. Lamin Manjang
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank Kenya

Lamin was appointed to the Board on 18th October 2017 as an Non-Executive Director and a member of the Board Audit & Risk Committee. Lamin has over 17 years banking experience with Standard Chartered Bank across Africa and the Middle East. He had served SCB Gambia in various capacities as Branch Manager, Head of Consumer Banking and Head of Finance before being appointed as CEO in Sierra Leone, Botswana, Uganda, Oman and now Kenya. In addition to his role as CEO of SCB Kenya, Lamin is also responsible for the overall growth and development of the Bank’s business in the Eastern African region.



Dr. Omodele R.N. Jones


Dr. Jones was appointed to the Board on 25th June, 2015 as an Independent Non-Executive Director and as Chairman of the Board Audit & Risk Committee. Dr. Jones is a Chartered Accountant by profession and is the CEO of FJP Financial Management & Consultant Firm. He offers 27 years of post-tertiary audit, turnaround & strategy experience in the United Kingdom and West Africa. This includes work for the private & not for profit sectors and for Public Sector beneficiaries.




Mr. Idrissa A. Kamara
CEO/Managing Director Sierra Leone

Mr. Kamara is the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Sierra Leone. He was appointed to The Gambia Board as a Non-Executive Director on 17th August, 2015. Prior to his appointment as CEO for Standard Chartered Sierra Leone, Idrissa spent almost two (2) years as Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB), the largest Bank in the country where he led a successful transformation programme. Before moving to SLCB, Idrissa spent almost 10 years with the Bank, first as Business Finance Analyst, in 2003. He also served as Chief Finance Officer, Company Secretary and in January 2013 appointed as Chief Operating Officer.



MR. Omar F. M’Bai
CHIEF LEGAL COUNSEL & COMPANY SECRETARY

Mr. M’Bai joined Standard Chartered Gambia on 1st January 2010 as the Bank’s Chief Legal Counsel and Company Secretary. Mr. M’Bai was in private legal practice for several years before joining EcoBank Gambia Limited as its first Legal Counsel who had played an instrumental role in the setting up of the Bank in The Gambia in 2007.

In collaboration with The Gambia Bankers Association, Mr. M’Bai serves as a Legal advisor to the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Bankers of The Gambia and in December 2013. In June, 2014, Mr. M’Bai was certified by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as an Adviser on the Legal aspects of E- Commerce and in November the same year, he was appointed as a member of Legal Committee of The Gambia Football Federation by the Executive Committee of The Gambia Football Federation
