Herbert M’cleod

Herbert M’cleod - Chairman

Appointed: Board Chairman in June 2014.

Experience: Herbert has a career spanning 35 years of development work with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), particularly in fragile countries, Herbert has held a number of positions including Resident Coordinator in Cameroon, Eritrea and The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as well as Director, Operations Policy and Programmes Division at UNDP Headquarters. Post UNDP, he has been an Advisor to the Government of Sierra Leone, responsible for financial and macro-economic matters and has even led the Government of Sierra Leone’s Minerals Negotiation Team. He is currently a member of the World Economic Forum’s Council on Fragile States and a member of the Panel of Experts on Ireland’s Aid Policies. He has co-authored publications on natural resource management and on understanding minerals and oil contracts.

Career: Herbert began his career as a Lecturer of Economic History in Freetown Technical Institute, before spending 35 years at the United Nations Development Program.

Idrissa Kamara

Idrissa Kamara – Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director

Experience: Idrissa Kamara is a career banker with significant governance banking experience and a proven track record of successful leadership, evidenced in his tenor as Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB), where he led a successful transformation programme. He was appointed into his current role in May 2015 and had almost ten (10) years’ experience with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) before moving to SLCB. Idrissa has held several roles in SCB including, Chief Finance Officer, Company Secretary and in January 2013 as Chief Operating Officer. He has vast knowledge of SCB, its clients and the market; and provides valuable support to the Board and the Management Team in shaping and executing our new strategy. Idrissa was appointed as the first Executive Secretary for the British Chamber of Commerce in Sierra Leone, after working with British High Commission in developing the framework and establishment of the Chambers. He is an Executive Council member of the West African Banker Association (WABA); and a member of the Financial Sector Advisory Team (FSAT) in Sierra Leone. He is also a member of the Board of Directors, Standard Chartered Bank, in The Gambia.

Career: Idrissa has held several roles in SCB including, Chief Finance Officer, Company Secretary and in January 2013 as Chief Operating Officer. He has vast knowledge of SCB, its clients and the market; and provides valuable support to the Board and the Management Team in shaping and executing our new strategy.

IOlukorede Kayode Adenowo

Olukorede Kayode Adenowo – Non-Executive Director

Experience: Olukorede is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, The Gambia with responsibility for Senegal. Before assuming that role, he was the Regional Head, Financial Institutions and Public Sector West and Central Africa of Standard Chartered Africa. Prior to this, he was Managing Director, Origination and Client Coverage for Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) West Africa 4, comprising Cameroun, Cote D’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Senegal and Gabon. He has over 30 years of working experience in banking and consulting; having held several positions in Corporate Banking and client relationships. He also served on the Board of Standard Chartered Bank Cameroun as Deputy Managing Director.

Career: Olukorede began his career at Deloitte Nigeria where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2000. He has subsequently pursued a banking career from 1992 to date of which he has spent 20 years in Standard Chartered Bank Group.

Elizabeth Massally

Elizabeth Massally (Mrs.) - Independent Non-Executive Director

Experience: Elizabeth has over 20 years post-qualification experience in professional accounting, administration and human resource management in Sierra Leone. She possesses excellent insight of corporate governance matters and board management having served on the Boards of various other institutions including Regional African Satellite Communications in Cote D’Ivoire, representing SIERRATEL Ltd, IDT Labs and Transparency Alert in Sierra Leone. She has worked in a number of reputable organizations including the Sierra Leone Produce Marketing Board, SIERRATEL Ltd, and Sierra Leone Brewery Ltd. She was also the Director of Finance and Administration at SLIEPA for eight years. She is the Chairperson of the Audit & Risk Committee of SCB Sierra Leone.

Career: Chartered Accountant

Olga Arara-Kimani

Olga Arara-Kimani (Mrs.) - Non-Executive Director

Experience: Olga is an Electrical and Electronics Engineer by profession and holds a MBA in Engineering Business Management from Manchester Business School, UK. She has a wealth of experience, gained over a 22 years career, in marketing, business/product development and sales, in top blue-chip IT and Telecommunications organisation across Africa. Her areas of expertise are strategic marketing management, customer analytics and digital marketing. As Regional Head, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Africa & Middle East, she is responsible for driving and delivering the Brand and Marketing strategies for the region/clusters and Corporate Affairs for the cluster/country, ensuring consistent and aligned delivery with the global and regional agendas to support achievement of business priorities.

Ibrahim Bah

Ibrahim Bah – Executive Director & Country Head Global Banking

Appointed: May 2018

Experience: Ibrahim Bah was appointed to the Board as an Executive Director in May 2018 and he assumed the role of Country Head, Global Banking Sierra Leone since 1 November 2016. Since his appointment, he has successively led a comprehensive strategic change programme for the business. Prior to that Ibrahim Bah assumed the role of the Head International Corporate for one year

He moved into the International Corporate Banking role after four years of serving in various roles in Corporate & Institutional Banking including Credit Analyst, Senior Relationship Manager and Head Local Corporates and CTA, overseeing successful growth in the business. Under the Bank’s international labour mobility programme, Ibrahim Jubairu Bah was also appointed as an Associate Relationship Manager in the Corporate Banking

Department in Standard Chartered Bank Qatar from 2010 to 2011 where he acquired considerable Corporate Banking skills.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, he served as a Project Manager, Humanity First Sierra Leone, an International Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) operation in Sierra Leone

Jennifer Beoku-Betts

Jennifer Beoku-Betts (Mrs.), LLB, BL, LLM – Head Legal & Company Secretary

Jennifer Beoku-Betts is a Barrister and Solicitor with 14 years’ experience in corporate law, Human Rights Law and International Law. She was appointed Country Head of Legal and Company Secretary in June 2014; and served as Head of Compliance from June 2014 to December 2015.

Prior to joining the Bank, she was Legal Officer in the Appeals Chamber of the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
