- Samuel Vengai Rushwaya
An Independent non-Executive Director, Samuel is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Limited. He is the former Managing Director of Aberfoyle Holdings (Private) Limited, and the past Chairman of British American Tobacco Zimbabwe Limited. Currently, he is also the Chairman of First Mutual Life Assurance Company (Private) Limited, and a Director of First Mutual Holdings Limited as well as African Distillers Limited. He holds a B.Sc. Sociology(Honours) degree from the University of London and an Advanced Diploma in Personnel Management. He has also attended several courses including the Unilever Management Seminar and the Program for Senior Executives of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Samuel also chairs the Bank’s Board Risk Committee. - Ian James Mackenzie
An Independent non-Executive Director of the Company since 2007, Ian holds a B.Sc. Economics (Honours) (London) degree and is a Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe). He served as an Economic Planning Officer for the Zimbabwe National Railways before undergoing Articles of Clerkship with a firm of Chartered Accountants. He then joined Olivine Industries (Private) Limited, then an affiliate of the H.J. Heinz Company, in various capacities including Chief Accountant, Financial Director and Managing Director, before retiring in 2007.
Ian also chairs the Bank’s Board Audit Committee and Board Loans Review Committee. - Ralph Watungwa
Ralph is the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. He was appointed to his current role in January 2012 and has 29 years banking experience with Standard Chartered Bank Group in various capacities and different locations. Prior to his current appointment, Ralph served as Head of Retail Banking for Zambia for three years and before that he was Head of Retail Banking for Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania. He has also served as the Head of Retail Banking for Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe and worked in various roles and capacities within the Bank in corporate banking, project finance, corporate finance and Trade finance in Zimbabwe between 1987 and 2000. Ralph is a product of the Bank’s graduate training programme and holds Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Studies degrees, both from the University of Zimbabwe. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers, Zimbabwe. He sits on the Board Risk and Board Credit Committees.
He is a former Non-Executive Director of Zimnat Asset Management (Private) Limited and Credit Insurance Zimbabwe Limited. - Christopher Mwerenga
Chris is the Chief Financial Officer of the Bank. He was appointed to his current role in April 2014, having worked in the Africa Regional Office (ARO) in South Africa for nearly six years as Head WB Finance ARO and Southern Africa. Prior to joining ARO in South Africa, Chris had served in different capacities in Finance and the CEO’s office in Zimbabwe for a period of five years. In 2006, Chris briefly left the Bank to join the second largest building socieity in Zimbabwe at that time, Beverley Building Society as Finance Director for two and half years before rejoining SCB in South Africa.Chris is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) United Kingdom (UK), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) UK and a member of the South African Institute of Public Accountants (SAIPA). He also holds a Masters degre in Business Leadership (MBL) with with the University of South Africa (UNISA) and a holder of an honours degree in Business Studies with the University of Zimbabwe
- Samuel Nhakaniso
An Executive Director and Head, International Corporates, Samuel has 35 years’ banking experience with Standard Chartered Bank Group in various capacities. Prior to his current appointment, Samuel served the local Bank in various capacities including Head Global Corporates, Head of Marketing, and Head Cash Management & Senior Relationship Manager. He has also served in various capacities in Retail Banking including Senior Manager Retail Banking for Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe. Samuel is a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Accounting and Business Economics from the University of South Africa, a Master of Business Administration degree from Brunel University UK and a Doctorate in Business Leadership. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers, Zimbabwe.
- Jo-Ann Pohl
Jo is the Chief Financial Officer of Telesure in South Africa. She was previously the Standard Chartered Bank Regional Chief Financial Officer for Africa and Southern Africa from 2012 to 2015 when she left the Group. Prior to her appointment, she was the Chief Financial Officer of Ubank Limited responsible for Finance, Treasury and Strategy and had also led the finance function on a Pan-African basis as the Head of Finance for Barclays Africa, the Middle East and Indian Oceans. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant, member of the Institute of Directors, a recognised Professional Banker of the Institute of Bankers in South Africa and also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Wales.
She is a director of Standard Chartered Nominees SA (Pty) Ltd, CMB Nominees (Pty) Ltd and a member of the Fiscal Council for Standard Chartered Bank Angola S.A. She is part of the South Africa Boss of the Year alumni for 2013, a national award that speaks to her passion for people. Jo was identified by Euromoney as one of Africa’s top 20 rising stars in 2014. She was appointed to the Board for Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Limited and as member of the Board Risk Committee with effect from 1 November 2014. - Lovemore Tavaziya Manatsa
Lovemore was appointed an Independent non-Executive Director of the Board of Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Limited on 1 March 2012. He was the Managing Director of British American Tobacco (BAT) Zimbabwe Limited from 2008 to January 2016, having joined that company in 1995.Lovemore has worked in various roles in BAT Zimbabwe, BAT Malawi and BAT Zambia, including National Sales Manager, Trade Marketing and Distribution Director and Country Manager.
Lovemore holds a Masters degree in Leadership & Change Management from Leeds Metropolitan University, a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UNISA and a Diploma in Journalism from the International Press Institute.
Lovemore chairs the Bank’s Board Credit Committee and sits on the Board Audit Committee. - Dr Samuel Mushiri
Dr Mushiri is an accomplished business executive with a strong commercial background. He held the role of Chief Executive Officer for Star Africa Corporation from September 2012 until June 2015. Previously, he was an Executive Director at Delta Corporation Limited, where he worked for 31 years. Dr Mushiri was appointed an Independent non-Executive Director of the Board for Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Limited with effect from 1 March 2014.He sits on the Board Audit and Board Risk Committees. He holds a BSc Hons, MSc and PhD degrees from London and Loughborough Universities in the United Kingdom.
