Property & Liability Insurance (Business Package)

This policy provides cover against damage to the whole or part of the property described in the schedule, owned by the insured or for which they are responsible. Property covered includes buildings, office furniture & contents, Office equipment and machines, Plant and machinery, perimeter walls and gates.

The insured perils include:
a) Fire, lightning, thunderbolt, subterranean fire, explosion.
b) Storm, tempest, wind, water, hail excluding loss of or damage to property arising from its undergoing any process necessarily involving the use or application of water.
c) Earthquake but excluding loss of or damage to property in the underground workings of any mine.
d) Impact by animals, vehicles, Aircraft or other aerial devices or articles dropped therefrom.
e) Accidental breakage of mirror or glass forming part of the building.
f) Theft - Forced entry or exit
g) Accidental breakage of glass or mirror forming part of the building or furniture
h) Liability – General Public/ Property Owners/ Tenants/ Products/ employers liability

Goods in Transit

This policy provides cover for loss of or damage to property belonging to the insured, in trust or whilst in the custody and control of the insured as more specifically described in the schedule whilst in conveyance, subject to:-

  • Packaging professionally done and in custom with the trade.
  • Safety precautions on loading and unloading being adhered to.
  • Any agreement in place between transporter and property owner extending to cover insurer
  • Subrogation rights passing to the insurer on admission of liability.
  • Goods being professionally protected against elements of weather
  • Property cannot be abandoned to insurer.

Claims

a) Immediate notification of claims quoting the policy number, brief circumstances of the loss estimated cost of the claim and any supporting documents.
b) Any possible claim against the insurer should be notified as soon as possible or at the latest within 30 days of occurrence/ discovery.
c) Clients must be advised of turnaround period
d) Claims settlement will be based on replacement value.


Policy Cancellations

The customer may cancel the policy at any given time and premium will be refunded on a pro-rata basis for the remaining period provided there is still more than 30 days to expiry.

This insurance policy is underwritten by Old Mutual. The insurance coverage that this policy provides shall be at all times subject to the terms and conditions of the policy contract issued by Old Mutual. Standard Chartered Bank shall not be responsible for Old Mutual's actions or decisions under the policy contract nor shall Standard Chartered Bank be liable regarding payment of claims or services under the policy contract issued by Old Mutual.
