Standard Chartered Bank establishes a Global Research presence in Continental Europe

on 1 Feb 2023

1 February 2023, Paris – Standard Chartered has relocated one of its senior economists to its Paris office, from London. Philippe Dauba-Pantanacce leads Global Geopolitical analysis within Standard Chartered Global Research and will be the first member of the Research team based in Continental Europe (Standard Chartered AG), strengthening the bank’s commitment to the continent. Standard Chartered Research is a pioneer in the field of Geopolitical Economic Research, a key differentiator in its client offering.

Standard Chartered has provided financial products and services in Continental Europe for over 115 years; the EU hub is headquartered in Frankfurt, with offices in Sweden and France since 2008, with the Paris office serving Southern Europe in addition to its French clients.

In Continental Europe, the Bank provides banking services and advice on strategic products, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate, project and export finance, debt capital markets, risk management, cash management and trade finance, as well as focusing on accompanying clients on their project expansion in Standard Chartered’s core markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. It will now also offer an on-the-ground Research service.

Philippe has been with the Bank for over 15 years, starting in Dubai as an economist covering the Middle East and Turkey, before moving to the Bank’s London HQ. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s from University of Paris, Dauphine, a Master’s from Sciences-Po Paris and a Master’s from Columbia University in New York. He was recognised as one of the “Most Helpful Analysts in Emerging Markets” in 2021 by S&P’s Coalition Greenwich, a reference survey in the industry.

Caroline Eber-Ittel, CEO France and Head of Client Coverage France & Southern Europe at Standard Chartered said: “Philippe brings extensive knowledge and expertise that strengthens our on-the-ground offering in France and more widely, Europe. We’re committed to growing our presence in Europe, to better serve our strategic and evolving European client base and supporting our clients as they navigate today’s current economic and geopolitical uncertainties.”
