We care about health! Preventive healthcare and wellbeing at Standard Chartered
2 days agoAt Standard Chartered, caring for the wellbeing of our employees is an integral part of our culture. We regularly organise preventive and educational activities to make it easier for our teams to take care of their health – conveniently and right in the office. Our initiatives, many of which we carry out each year, have one goal: make it easier for our colleagues to take care of their health and to make prevention a natural part of life.
The last few months have been particularly intense in terms of health initiatives. We held two blood testing campaigns, attended by over 160 people. The possibility of on-site diagnostics was met with great interest – this convenient solution allows people to take care of prevention without having to organise additional visits outside of work.
In November, we also held a webinar with a urologist dedicated to men’s health prevention and self-examination. During this day, employees took the opportunity to undergo a testicular ultrasound scan at the office. This year, we also carried out a flu vaccination campaign, which was taken up by over 60 people.
Health is our priority
Such activities are nothing new for us – we have been consistently developing our health promotion offer for years. In the past, we have organised, among other things, a skin check-up carried out by a dermatologist on site, cytology tests at the office, and educational webinars as part of Movember and Pink Ribbon Month. We also successfully carry out regular flu and COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.
It is worth noting that initiatives such as blood tests, cytology, consultations with urologist or dermatologist are the result of the activities of our Gender Colleague Community. This group combines initiatives that are important for all genders, taking care of the common health needs of our community.
On a daily basis, employees can also take advantage of a comprehensive medical package that includes access to many specialists. It is also possible to extend care to loved ones, including parents and parents-in-law.
In addition, we care about physical activity – apart from the standard sports card, the company has several sports sections, including tennis, padel, volleyball and running. Employees can also take advantage of training sessions with a personal trainer in the gym located in our building.

Activities that help others
At Standard Chartered, we understand wellbeing in a broader sense – as caring not only for ourselves, but also for others. That is why the Gender group also coordinates regular blood donation campaigns. Employees can donate blood in a specially equipped bus – throughout the entire duration of this initiative, we have already collected almost 150 litres of blood! Importantly, blood donors receive access to a package of diagnostic tests, making this an initiative that combines preventive healthcare with supporting others.
Another equally important activity was the registration for the bone marrow donor bank that we organised. This can really help people in need of a transplant.
Support for everyone
We remember that wellbeing is not only about medical activities, but also mental support, the opportunity to consult specialists, access to tools that help in coping with stress on a daily basis. We offer access to the Unmind app and sessions with psychologists, coaches and therapists. Importantly, these services are also available to the employee’s household members. Other benefits include the fully paid sick leave, up to 33 days in a year.
All these activities show that at Standard Chartered, wellbeing is not just a slogan – it is something we really care about, through a variety of initiatives, both large and small, that have a real impact on the comfort and health of our employees.
