Standard Chartered Bank AG opens a new operational branch in Warsaw, Poland

on 7 Nov 2023

Standard Chartered Bank AG[1] is pleased to share that it has opened a new branch in Warsaw, Poland, with its first employees having started effective 1 November 2023.

Standard Chartered Bank AG is the hub for Standard Chartered’s EU activities; well-positioned, both geographically and strategically, to further develop the business and remain at the heart of Europe.

The new branch represents a key part of a broader strategic programme aimed at developing the Bank’s operations in Europe. It will provide high-quality middle- and back- office solutions, supporting the regulated and client activities which are performed by the SCB AG teams headquartered in Frankfurt and working in the Paris and Stockholm offices.

After a successful opening of the Standard Chartered Global Business Services centre in Warsaw in June 2018, which has grown to over 1,300 specialists to date, this will be the second entity established in Poland under the Standard Chartered brand. Located in the same modern facility at the Warsaw HUB, the branch will leverage a wide talent pool in terms of size and capabilities, as well as host certain activities in an efficient way, with full transparency, oversight, and control.

I am happy to see the continued growth of our strategic EU hub with the addition of the new Branch in Warsaw. The unmatched range of specialist competencies available in the Polish market will support our European operations, allowing us to unlock even more global opportunities. I am already impressed with the expertise that our colleagues in Poland are bringing to the Bank and I am looking forward to working together.

Nicolo Salsano, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank AG

The main roles anticipated to be performed from the Poland Branch will be Finance Functions, including Regulatory Reporting, Financial Reporting, Third Party Risk Management, Procurement, Financial Markets Risk and Control, Product and Valuation Controls along with a range of other support functions.

From a governance perspective, the Branch is managed by Anna Urbanska who has been appointed Branch Director, in addition to her current role of CEO, Global Business Services, Poland.

After introducing the Standard Chartered brand in Poland just five years ago, I’m pleased to see the continuous development of the Group’s activities in Europe. The establishment of the AG branch in Warsaw proves the Bank’s trust in the high quality of services delivered from Poland and colleagues who are continuously engaged in knowledge-intensive processes.

Anna Urbanska, Branch Director, CEO, Standard Chartered Poland

The opening of our new Poland Branch marks a significant milestone in the expansion of our Continental European franchise and demonstrates our commitment to delivering world class services to our valued clients. This development is testament to the hard work and dedication of our exceptional team and reinforces our commitment to be ‘Here for Good’.
