Standard Chartered Bank AG appoints Alexander Engel to the Management Board

Frankfurt, July 3, 2023 – Frankfurt-based Standard Chartered Bank AG has appointed Alexander Engel to its Management Board, effective July 1, 2023. Engel has served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Standard Chartered Bank AG since March 1, 2019, which was formally established and acts as Standard Chartered’s EU hub following the granting of a full banking license in December 2018.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Alexander Engel was CFO of solarisBank AG in Berlin. Prior to that, he worked for Deutsche Bank for over 10 years, most recently as Managing Director Global Purchasing and Cost Management, Head of Strategic Cost Management and Analytics in London.

In May, Standard Chartered Bank AG announced that Nicolo Salsano would succeed CEO Heinz Hilger. Effective Oct. 2, Salsano will join Standard Chartered from HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt GmbH, where he is currently still spokesman of the Management Board.

The Management Board of Standard Chartered Bank AG now consists of Heinz Hilger, CEO (until October 2023), Michael Hellbeck, Chief Risk Officer, Caroline Eber-Ittel, Head of Client Coverage Continental Europe and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Paris branch, and Alexander Engel, CFO.
