Standard Chartered Bank AG appoints Jörg Hessenmüller as Chief Executive Officer
Frankfurt, Germany, 1 October 2026 – Standard Chartered today announced that Jörg Hessenmüller has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank AG (SCB AG), the Bank’s Continental Europe hub.
Headquartered in Frankfurt, SCB AG enables Standard Chartered to serve clients across the European Economic Area and acts as the Bank’s Continental Europe hub, with offices in Germany, France and Sweden, a representative office in Switzerland and an operations centre in Poland. As part of Standard Chartered’s wider European business, it helps connect clients to opportunities across the Bank’s international network through its advisory, financing, transaction banking and financial markets capabilities.
Jörg joined Standard Chartered in 2024 as Chief Operating Officer of SCB AG before taking on the additional responsibility of Chief Technology and Operations Officer for Europe. Jörg succeeds Nicolo Salsano in the role, who has left the Bank to pursue other opportunities.
Jörg Hessenmüller, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank AG, said: “I am honoured to take on the role of CEO of SCB AG. In today’s environment, clients increasingly value connectivity, expertise and access to international markets. Together with colleagues across Europe and the wider Standard Chartered network, I look forward to continuing to connect our clients to opportunities across key global growth corridors and building on the strong momentum of our franchise.”
Mandy DeFilippo, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Standard Chartered Bank AG and Chief Executive Officer, Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Standard Chartered, said: “Continental Europe is a key part of Standard Chartered’s international network, and Jörg’s experience and leadership make him the ideal person to lead the franchise into its next chapter. I would like to thank Nicolo Salsano for his leadership over the past three years in building and strengthening our Continental European franchise and positioning the business for future growth.”
