Exclusive Credit Card Sign-Up Gift Promotion Terms and Conditions

  1. This Exclusive Credit Card Sign-Up Gift Promotion (the "Promotion") is available from 10 September to 20 October 2014 (both dates inclusive) ("Promotion Period"), and is open to selected customers by invitation only. If you are one of the selected customers, you will be contacted separately on this Promotion. For the avoidance of doubt, this invitation is not transferable and the Promotion is only open to selected cardholders/customers who have received an invitation from the Bank. By participating in the Promotion, the selected cardholders/customers agree to be bound by these terms.

Eligibility
  1. The eligibility criteria for this Promotion are as follows:

    1. In order to qualify for this Promotion:

      1. one must apply, as a principal cardholder ("Cardholder"), for the Standard Chartered Platinum MasterCard Credit Card ("Eligible Card") issued by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (the "Bank") via one of the following channels:
        • Submission of a hard-copy application form entitled "Standard Chartered Platinum MasterCard Credit Card Exclusive Sign-up Gift Promotion Application Form"; or

        • Online application via the Bank's website at www.sc.com/sg/Invite;
      2. the Bank must receive the said Eligible Card application within the Promotion Period;

      3. the Bank must approve the said Eligible Card application; and

      4. one must not have terminated any principal credit card accounts with the Bank within the 6-month period prior to the date of application for the Eligible Card;

    2. In addition to the criterion in sub-paragraph (a) above, in order to be eligible for a sign-up Promotion gift (as described in clause 3 below) ("Gift"), one must spend a minimum of S$200 in retail transactions on the Eligible Card within 30 days of the card approval date (based on transaction posting date) ("Minimum Spend Criteria").

Sign-Up Gift
  1. Customers who satisfy the eligibility criterion in paragraph 2(b) above will be entitled to a choice of any one of the following Gifts, subject to stock availability:

    1. an American Tourister Puzzle-lite Spinner 59cm luggage (original retail price: S$120) free-of-charge;

    2. a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (7") Wi-Fi (SM-T2100ZWAXSP) (White) (original retail price: S$298) for an admin fee of S$99 for Eligible Card applications submitted online via the link www.sc.com/sg/invite; or

    3. a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (7") Wi-Fi (SM-T2100ZWAXSP) (White) (original retail price: S$298) for an admin fee of S$119 for Eligible Card applications submitted using the hard-copy application form entitled "Standard Chartered Platinum MasterCard Credit Card Exclusive Sign-up Gift Promotion Application Form".

    For the avoidance of doubt, the eligible Cardholder shall not be allowed to change his selection of the Gift, once the eligible Cardholder has communicated his choice of the Gift to us and/or once the Redemption Letter (as defined in Clause 8) has been issued to the eligible Cardholder.

  2. Each eligible customer is limited to a maximum of one (1) Gift only. Gifts redeemed are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Gifts are not transferable or exchangeable for cash or other items of similar value. For the avoidance of doubt, the Bank retains the sole and absolute discretion to change and/or substitute the Gift with another item of a comparable or similar value, with or without prior notice to the eligible customer.

  3. The applicable admin fee (if any) for the Gift selected by an eligible customer will be charged to his/her Eligible Card account once he/she satisfies the Minimum Spend Criteria in paragraph 2(b) above.

  4. Please note that solely for the purposes of the maximum CashBack limits under the Credit Cards Sign–Up CashBack Promotion and the Preferred Banking CashBack Promotion, customers who get a Standard Chartered Platinum MasterCard Credit Card approved under this Promotion will be deemed as having received the S$80 CashBack under this Promotion.

  5. If the Eligible Card account is terminated within six (6) months of the card approval date, the full retail price of the Gift (after deducting the admin fee paid for the redemption of the Gift, if any) will be charged to the Eligible Card account.

  6. Eligible customers will receive a redemption letter with details on the Gift redemption within ten (10) weeks of the card approval date. The original redemption letter must be presented along with any identification document(s) (if required) at the time of redemption. In the event that a Redemption Letter is lost, misplaced, damaged and/or otherwise destroyed, we shall not be obliged to replace the said Redemption Letter, and there shall be no replacement of Redemption Letters under any circumstances. We assume no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage caused to the Redemption Letters once the same have been issued to the eligible Cardholders.

  7. For the avoidance of doubt, the following transactions are not considered eligible retail transactions and will not be taken into consideration towards the fulfilment of the Minimum Spend Criteria in paragraph 2(b):

    1. online bill payment from Standard Chartered Online Banking and/or Breeze Mobile Platform;

    2. payments to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, the Ministry of Manpower, and income tax payments;

    3. purchase and top-up of EZ-Link cards;

    4. insurance premiums charged to the Eligible Card;

    5. balance transfers to the Eligible Card, cash advances from the Eligible Card, purchases via NETS and ongoing instalment payments;

    6. any fees and charges (including annual fees, interest charges, cheque processing fees, administrative fees, cash advance fees, finance charges and/or late payment charges and other miscellaneous fees and charges) charged to the Eligible Card;

    7. any amount charged to the Eligible Card that is subsequently cancelled, voided or reversed; and

    8. balance owing on the Eligible Card account from other months.

    Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event of a dispute, the Bank has the sole and absolute discretion to determine whether a particular transaction qualifies as an eligible retail transaction for the purposes of the Promotion, and any decision of the Bank is final and binding on the customer.

  8. For the purposes of the Minimum Spend Criteria in paragraph 2(b), for eligible retail transaction charged to the Eligible Card which are successfully converted into monthly instalments:

    1. at the point of sale by tie-up merchants, the monthly instalment amount (and not the total amount charged for that transaction); or

    2. at a later date by the Bank, the total amount charged (and not the converted monthly instalment amount),

    will be taken into consideration towards fulfilment of the Minimum Spend Criteria, provided such transaction is successfully posted within 30 days of the card approval date.

General
  1. The Bank is not an agent of the merchants supplying the Gifts. The Bank makes no representation or warranty as to the quality, condition or performance of the Gifts and assumes no liability or responsibility for the acts or omissions of the relevant individual merchants or any non-performance or defects in the Gifts. Any dispute about the quality, condition or performance of the Gifts is to be resolved directly between the customers and the relevant individual merchants.

  2. The Bank reserves the right to vary, modify, add to, delete or otherwise revise these terms, as well as to modify or withdraw this Promotion at any time without prior notice or reason. Please visit the Bank's website for the latest terms and conditions applicable.

  3. The individual merchants supplying the Gifts are not participants in or sponsors of the Promotion.

  4. The Bank's decision in all matters arising out of or in connection with the Promotion is final and conclusive and no correspondence will be entertained.

  5. These Credit Card Sign-Up Gift Promotion Terms and Conditions are to be read in conjunction with the Bank's Customer Terms and Credit Card Terms ("Other Terms"). In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and the Other Terms, these terms prevail only to the extent of such inconsistency.

  6. To the best of the Bank's knowledge and belief, all information is correct at the time of publication.
