17 July 2025, London, United Kingdom – The Standard Chartered Great City Race, the premier City of London 5K corporate team event which takes place on Tuesday [22 July 2025], has once again sold out as it celebrates 20 years.
Entry fees raise funds for The Standard Chartered Foundation to support Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, a global initiative to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion. All funds raised for Futuremakers will be matched by Standard Chartered PLC1 and will fund Futuremakers programmes in the UK, Europe and globally that help create and sustain jobs for young entrepreneurs and job-seekers from underserved communities.
For every USD 1 invested in Futuremakers, there is a USD 55 return in societal value, meaning that funds raised through this year’s race will go even further in helping our communities to thrive.
Over 5,000 runners will set off at 19:15 from the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC), passing some of the City of London’s most famous landmark buildings including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England.
Saif Malik, CEO, UK and Head, Client Coverage, UK at Standard Chartered will be joined at the start line by former Liverpool Football Club (FC) player Phil Babb, to wave the start flag and set the runners off.
Sonia Rossetti, Head, Corporate Affairs & Brand & Marketing, Europe & Americas at Standard Chartered, said: “Celebrating 20 years of the Standard Chartered Great City Race is a very proud moment for us. We have some colleagues running this year who also took part in 2005, and the ‘finisher’s shirt’ has become a collector’s item for many of our Great City Racers. We are celebrating 20 years across a number of our running events this year, showing testament to our passion for sport, bringing people together and supporting the next generation of talented young people. A huge thanks to our volunteers and partners who support us in delivering this fantastic event.”
Hugh Brasher, CEO of London Marathon Events, organisers of the Standard Chartered Great City Race, said: “For two decades now the Standard Chartered Great City Race has been the City of London’s premier corporate mass participation running event, giving participants the chance to enjoy an incredible 5K course, in the heart of the Capital, alongside friends and colleagues. We wish everyone taking part in this year’s event the very best of luck.”
The Standard Chartered Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales, charity number 1184946, company number 11968592.
