Standard Chartered has a history of 170 years in the UK, having opened our UK office in 1853. Our headquarters are at 1 Basinghall Avenue, in the heart of the City of London, and both the Group CEO and Chairman are based here.

Standard Chartered is regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority and is one of the UK’s largest banks. We are a FTSE100 company listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1969.

In addition to the many Group functions based in the UK, London serves as the headquarters for the Europe and Americas business, focused on facilitating business for our clients across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

It is a hub for our Corporate, Commerical and Institutional Banking business, and hosts a significant Private Banking business for the region.

Standard Chartered has been the main sponsor of Liverpool Football Club since July 2010.

The Europe and the Americas business is a centre of expertise for the Bank’s major product offerings, allowing us to provide a wide range of services, platforms and capabilities to meet the growing needs of our clients.

As one of the Bank’s fastest-growing client regional franchises, our business in Europe and the Americas is pivotal to delivering the strategic aspirations of the Bank.

We opened our UK office in 1853 and these London headquarters are the main centre in Europe for Corporate and Institutional Banking client coverage. It is also a Booking Centre for our Private Banking, Priority Banking (led from Jersey) and Retail Banking services in the Falklands.

Our EU hub, Standard Chartered Bank AG, which is located in Frankfurt, strengthens our presence across Europe and enables us to better serve our strategic and evolving European client base.

Standard Chartered is also present in multiple locations across North and South America, with our Americas headquarters located in New York. Our Americas franchise, through our Corporate and Institutional Banking business, is committed to providing financial products and services to multi-national corporations, financial institutions and development organizations.

Torry Berntsen 

Regional CEO, Europe and Americas

Torry is the CEO of Standard Chartered for Europe & Americas and is based in London. He is responsible for all aspects of the Region, providing leadership on strategy, client relationships, risk management, governance, and regulatory engagements. He was previously the CEO and Regional Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking for the Americas at Standard Chartered, where he led the Bank’s North American and Latin American franchise. In addition to his current role, he serves as a non-executive director on multiple boards.

CEO, UK and Regional Head, Client Coverage, UK & Europe

Saif is CEO, UK and Regional Head for Client Coverage, UK & Europe. Based in London, he leads both the UK franchise and corporate & institutional client relationships in the UK, Continental Europe and Turkey. Prior to this role, he held various leadership roles across Asia and Africa including as Global Head of our multinational corporate business (Global Subsidiaries) and Regional Head, Global Banking, Africa.

Grant is the Head of Consumer, Private and Business Banking (CPBB) for Europe, based in London. Grant’s career in financial services spans over 25 years, having held senior leadership positions including Chief Operating Officer at national and international wealth providers. He has a breadth of experience and knowledge in wealth management, project management and delivering business strategies to grow a company.
