Important Information
Stay Vigilant Against Suspicious emails, websites, phone calls, Fraudulent Investment Solicitations and other ither scams impersonating Standard Chartered Group
We have recently become aware of suspicious investment solicitations, invitations to open securities accounts, and other fraudulent activities carried out by third parties with no connection to Standard Chartered Securities (Japan) Limited or Standard Chartered Bank (together, the “SCB entities in Japan”). In some cases, these parties have used names that could be mistaken for those of the SCB entities in Japan or have falsely claimed non-existent business relationships.
The SCB entities in Japan serve corporate clients only. We do not conduct any business with individual customers, whether directly or indirectly through intermediaries, including Japanese securities firms or other financial institutions.
We have received reports from individuals who were directed, through online searches using keywords such as “investment”, to websites claiming to offer stock trading services provided by the SCB entities in Japan. After opening an account, they were encouraged to invest in what were described as “IPO opportunities available only through a lottery”, only to later discover that their funds had not been returned.
Please be aware that the SCB entities in Japan do not solicit investments through social media, former employees or any other third parties.
If you suspect that you have been affected by fraud or a scam, please contact your local police immediately.
