Standard Chartered US Recognized as One of America’s 50 Most Community-Minded Companies

on 23 May 2023

NEW YORK, May 23, 2023 – Standard Chartered US (the “Bank”) is pleased to announce that it has been named a 2023 honoree of The Civic 50. This accolade recognizes the top community-minded companies in the United States according to an annual survey by Points of Light, the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to accelerating people-powered change.

Now in its eleventh year, The Civic 50 is a national standard for corporate citizenship and showcases how leading companies are moving social impact, civic engagement and community to the core of their business. The Civic 50 honorees are companies with annual US revenues of at least $1 billion and are selected based on four dimensions of their corporate citizenship and social impact programs: investment of resources and volunteerism, integration across business functions, institutionalization through policies and systems and impact measurement.

“We are proud and honored to be recognized for the dedication and efforts our colleagues put into serving our communities,” said Elaine Chin, Managing Director, Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered Americas. “Community service is deeply embedded in our DNA and provides an excellent opportunity for our colleagues to enrich their communities by sharing their time, skills, and expertise. Our ambition to continually increase our participation in volunteering is a testament to the Bank’s collective passion for creating positive change by tackling inequality and promoting economic inclusion.”

The Bank’s flagship initiative, Futuremakers empowers young people to navigate the complex and changing world. In the Americas, it partners with the Zahn Center at the City College of New York, Upwardly Global, Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America, Liverpool FC Foundation, and Enactus on projects focused on education, employability, and entrepreneurship.

“Companies play a critical role in creating thriving, participatory communities,” said Diane Quest, interim president and CEO, Points of Light. “Companies like Standard Chartered set a model for others, showing how to best use employee talent, business assets and integration to create meaningful impact, and we’re thrilled to uplift and celebrate their work as an honoree of The Civic 50 2023.”
