Futuremakers

Futuremakers

Futuremakers, is Standard Chartered Group global initiative to tackle the issue of inequality and seeks to promote greater economic inclusion for young people in our communities. Our ambition is to raise USD50 million (through fundraising and Bank-matching) between 2019 and 2023 to empower the next generation to learn, earn and grow.

Since May 2013, the Standard Chartered Bank has integrated non-profit organisations, government units to create “Standard Chartered Seeing is Believing (SiB) Visually Impaired (VI) Employment Platform” and titled-sponsored the largest “Standard Chartered Taipei Charity Marathon” in Taiwan for eight consecutive years. The marathon has successfully placed nearly 550 VI talents into jobs since 2014.

Moving forward, Standard Chartered decided to carry the legacy of SiB and launched a global charity initiative “Futuremakers” project in supporting 16-35 years old less advantaged youth with visual impairment or from low/ middle income family, to help them pursue their dreamed career without worries and inequality.

In 2019, Standard Chartered together with our long-term partnering NGOs, namely Parents’ Association for the Visually Impaired (PAVI), Technology Development Association for the Disabled (TWACC) and recruited one new partner – The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) to join and provide their experienced adolescent service, offer less advantaged youth a brighter future, care for their quality of education and employment, tackle the issue of inequality and seeks to promote greater economic inclusion for young people in our communities. In 2020, Futuremakers project served more than 1,200 disadvantaged youth to pursue their careers.

Standard Chartered Bank promoted this good cause through Standard Chartered Taipei Charity Marathon and encouraged employees, clients, customers and general public to run for charity and to donate money to the project. VI people was also encouraged to go outdoors to challenge themselves and around 250 VI people and low-income youths participated the race.

Join us to empower more young people by supporting Futuremakers programme, together we can make a real difference.
