17 May 2025, Shanghai – At 8:00 AM today, the 2025 Standard Chartered Shanghai 10K Run—under the theme “Together, We Run Further”—took off with a starting horn at the Expo Celebration Square. This year’s race welcomed 4,500 participants, who took on a dynamic, inclusive course along the iconic Huangpu River. The event’s integrated format and synergy with the broader Standard Chartered Run series reaffirm Shanghai’s flourishing running culture.

Five Editions of Momentum: A City-wide Festivity with Sport, Fun & Diversity

• Commemorative finisher medals: Marking the fifth edition on the mainland, the special medal—designed around the numeral “5” and infused with iconic Shanghai landmarks and race themes—celebrates every runner’s perseverance and acknowledges Standard Chartered Run’s ongoing dedication to China.

• New lead partner delivers pro gear: For the first time, high-end sportswear brand Descente joined as Presenting Partner, outfitting runners with race wear and race packs. Fourteen official pacers also led the way, helping participants maintain pace and run with confidence.

• Inaugural Inclusive Run: A 2 km “Inclusive Run” was introduced to support children with intellectual disabilities and visually impaired runners. With volunteer assistance, they joyfully ran together, embracing the fun and sense of achievement that sport brings.

• Standard Chartered Run series linkage & slot opportunities: The top three finishers in both men’s and women’s 10K personally earned guaranteed entry slots to the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon and Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. On-site lucky draws also awarded winners slots to these events and surprise entries to attend a Premier League pre-season match in Hong Kong—featuring Liverpool Football Club versus Italian legend AC

• Post race festival & interactive zones: Runners enjoyed multiple engagement zones with prize giveaways, as well as a Liverpool FC exhibition area, live band performances, Porsche test-drive and draw, and other entertaining attractions to keep the celebration energised.

The successful staging of this year’s event was supported by key sponsors including Descente, Wallstreetcn, Caixin, Keep, La Roche Posay, Gatorade, Aquafina, and CITIC Prudential, offering runners comprehensive services and encouragement.

Since 1982, the Standard Chartered Run has become a globally recognised running series hosted across four continents. Notable events include the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon and Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. In 2018, the Standard Chartered Shanghai 10K Run debuted as the first mainland China race. This year marks its fifth edition, continuing to deliver a high quality, enjoyable urban run that brings runners together to go further.
