Standard Chartered’s support measures for individuals affected by the fire in Tai Po

Standard Chartered and Prudential Hong Kong jointly provide a cash subsidy of HK$20,000 for each hospitalised individual* who was injured in Tai Po fire

Effective immediately, hospitalised individuals may submit a written application at designated Standard Chartered branches or Prudential Hong Kong Customer Service Center.  Applicants should bring along the following documents for the application, and the staff will assist with the process:

  • Hospital admission certificate or discharge certificate; and
  • Emergency Relief Chit, or any document that can verify the identity of the hospitalised individual.

 

If the hospitalised individual is unable to apply in person, an authorised person may apply on his/her behalf with the above supporting documents. If the hospitalised individual is under 18 years old, the application can be handled by his/her legal guardian.

* Hospitalised individual: Those who were injured in the Tai Po fire on 26 November 2025, and have been hospitalised between 26 November and 2 December, or remain hospitalised.

Application Period: 11 December 2025 to 31 March 2026 (Both dates inclusive)

  1. Standard Chartered and Prudential Hong Kong Limited will review and assess the information and supporting documents submitted with each application. Only hospitalised individuals who were injured in Tai Po fire will receive the cash subsidy.
  2. Each hospitalised individual can only apply once for this cash subsidy.
  3. The cash subsidy will be disbursed through FPS or by cheque. The name of the account holder must match the name of the hospitalised individual. If the hospitalised individual is under 18 years old, the cash subsidy will be disbursed to the applying legal guardian.

Interest-free loans of up to HK$50,000 and repayment grace period on existing loans

  • Offer affected existing clients an interest-free emergency loan of up to HK$50,000, repayable over a term of 24 months
  • Provide a six-month pre-approved repayment grace period (including principal and interest) for affected clients with mortgages, personal loans or credit cards, as well as waivers of related penalties and handling fees

 

Flexible assistance for affected residents to exchange damaged banknotes and coins

  • After the affected building is reopened, we will inspect and exchange banknotes and coins damaged in the fire, issued by any bank or government, for affected residents.
  • Affected residents should not attempt to handle damaged banknotes and coins themselves; please keep them as they are and bring your identification documents to the branch for processing.
