Standard Chartered Foundation brings cheer to
old folks at Persatuan Rumah Caring, Kajang

KAJANG, 20 February 2017– Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, via its charity arm Standard Chartered Foundation (SCF), recently brought Chinese New Year cheer,prosperity and goodwill to 48 elderly and mentally challenged individuals of PersatuanRumah Caring, Kajang.

Twenty volunteers - comprising staff members from all divisions of the Bank’s operations -spent a large part of their day off to spend time and celebrate the festivities with the tenantsof the Home.

They volunteered to do chores and beautification works at the Home. On the day, StandardChartered Bank Malaysia volunteers cleaning up the Home, weeding the garden, andplanting flowers and shrubs to beautify the grounds of Persatuan Rumah Caring.

Once all the work was done and dusted, the volunteers, tenants and staff of the Homegathered together for a scrumptious lunch, complete with ‘loh sang’, and celebrated the joy ofthe Lunar New Year together with volunteers and the “God of Prosperity”. Many friendshipsand memories were made that day.

For the volunteers, many of them were reminded of the bonds of filial piety and family, aswell as the need to honour and cherish their elderly loved ones. For the 48 elderly tenants ofPersatuan Rumah Caring, Kajang, the contributions made by the Bank’s volunteers broughtmuch cheer and helped to brighten their day.

At the end of the day, as farewells were exchanged, the Standard Chartered Bank Malaysiavolunteers - through SCF - extended aid to the Home by providing them with kitchenappliances such as a toaster. In addition, the foundation also donated essential items toPersatuan Rumah Caring, Kajang, such as bed sheets, milk, sugar and toiletries.

Standard Chartered Foundation (SCF) organises initiatives aligned to the Foundation's pillarsfor the underprivileged community. In 2016, homes such as Pertubuhan Anak-anak Yatim Al-Khair, Seremban, Sivananda Home and most recently Dignity for Children Foundation havebenefitted through the foundation’s various events and provision of items. SCF alsofinancially supports underprivileged children with back-to-school essentials such as uniforms,bags and stationeries.
