Pre-order new banknotes / good-as-new banknotes online

    From 27 January (8 a.m.) to 15 February 2026, you can now easily order new banknotes / good-as-new banknotes online and pick up at your preferred branch and time.

    Total value of online pre-order new banknotes (per pack): HKD3,000
    – HKD20 (HKD2,000 / 100 pcs)
    – HKD50 (HKD1,000 / 20 pcs)

    and/or

    Total value of online pre-order good-as-new banknotes (per pack): HKD1,000
    – HKD50 (HKD1,000 / 20 pcs)

    Priority Private / Priority Banking clients can pre -order new banknotes / good-as-new banknotes pack through their Relationship Managers to ensure the availability and collect at their preferred time and location.

Arrangements for exchanging new banknotes / good-as-new banknotes at branches

New banknotes and good-as-new banknotes will be available for exchange at our branches from 3 – 16 February 2025. During the period, we will take special arrangements to reduce crowd gathering and waiting time.

All branches will provide new banknotes / goods-as-new banknotes exchange services from 8 a.m. for the first three days of the service period, and all branch counters will only offer new banknotes / goods-as-new banknotes exchange service from 8 to 9 a.m. to ensure smooth delivery of our services during normal hours.

General FAQs

  • We will provide new / good-as-new banknotes services from 3 – 16 February 2026. The new/ good-as-new notes exchange service will start from 8 a.m. in the first three days (i.e. 3-5 February 2026). During the three days from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m, all counters will be reserved for exchanging new/good-as-new banknotes and quota system applies.

    Designated counters and seats have been arranged for the elderly and those in need in some branches.

  • You can exchange up to 50pcs of HKD10, 100pcs of HKD20 new notes, and 20pcs of HKD50, HKD100 and HKD500 new banknotes each, and 10pcs of HKD1,000 new notes, and unlimited number of good-as-new notes each time.

    There is no limit to the number of times each customer can change new banknotes.

    At the same time, to reduce customer’s waiting time at branches and protect the environment, we will provide online pre-order new banknotes/good-as-new services this year.

  • The online pre-order new/good-as-new banknotes services will be available on 27 January – 15 February 2026 with the collection period 3 – 16 February 2026.  Each customer will be eligible to book one slot per day, and exchange for one pre-packed of new banknotes and/or good-as-new banknotes. Total value per pack for the online pre-order new banknotes is HKD3,000 (Denomination: HKD20 banknotes (HKD2,000 / 100pcs); HKD50 banknotes (HKD1,000 / 20pcs)). Total value per pack for the online pre-order good-as-new banknotes is HKD1,000 (Denomination: HKD50 banknotes (HKD1,000 / 20pcs)).

    At the same time, we encourage customers to use more of the bank’s e-Laisee function in SC Mobile App to send “e-Laisee” to relatives and friends and instantly send stickers and congratulations to your relatives and friends.

  • All Standard Chartered customers and non-Standard Chartered customers can use the Standard Chartered online pre-order new banknote/good-as-new banknote service. Customers only need to provide a local mobile phone number for registration. Each mobile number can only book one set of new banknotes and/or good-as new banknotes per day.

  • Each customer can make one booking per day with the same mobile phone number.

  • Local mobile number is required to receive the SMS message.

  • SMS will be sent to the customer’s mobile phone number after booking.

  • Total value per pack for the online pre-order new banknotes is HKD3,000 (Denomination: HKD20 banknotes (HKD2,000 / 100pcs); HKD50 banknotes (HKD1,000 / 20pcs)). Total value per pack for the online pre-order good-as-new banknotes is HKD1,000 (Denomination: HKD50 banknotes (HKD1,000 / 20pcs)). For other denominations, customers can also visit our branches to exchange the new banknotes(while stocks last) and good-as-new notes (unlimited) in person.

  • The booking cannot be modified or cancelled after submission. You can use the reference number on the confirmation message and the registered mobile phone number to enquire/cancel the booking and make a new one.

  • You can find the reference number from the SMS text message and/or email we sent you earlier. If you delete the confirmation text message and/or email or cannot find your booking reference number, please provide your mobile phone number, surname and collection date to us, we will call back later and tell you the reference number for you to know.

  • Someone may have entered the wrong mobile number and sent it to you by mistake, please ignore the SMS message.

  • Please present your confirmation SMS and/or email to our branch staff for the arrangement.

  • If it is collected by family/friends, please provide the reference number on the confirmation message and/or email and the registered mobile phone number for identification.

  • If you are unable to pick up at the designated branch and time, or if you are late for more than 10 minutes, we will consider the customer as giving up exchange banknote and cancel the booking. you may book another time slot or consider going to the nearest branch to exchange new banknotes or good-as-new notes.

  • Pre-ordering online is to ensure that the branch has reserved the banknotes for you. You may need to queue up at the designated branch to collect banknotes on that day.

  • Yes, we also welcome customers to visit our branches to exchange new banknotes(while stocks last) or good-as-new notes (unlimited). Priority Banking and Priority Private clients can also contact their Relationship Managers for banknotes exchange.

  • Sorry, due to the overwhelming response, the online ordering for the new banknote has been fully booked. You may consider going to the nearest branch to exchange new banknotes or good-as-new notes. Priority Banking and Priority Private clients can also contact their Relationship Managers for banknotes exchange.

    We would also like to recommend to try e-Laisee, You can transfer via e-Laisee function in SC Mobile App , you can instantly send stickers and congratulations to your relatives and friends.

Remarks

  1. SC Pay (FPS) and e-Laisee function are only applicable to payees who have registered for FPS service. Your payment is subject to the daily Non-registered Payee Transfer Limit.
  2. You will need a valid Standard Chartered Current or Savings account to register for SC Pay (FPS) and use e-Laisee function.
  3. You may transfer via SC Pay (FPS) and e-Laisee on SC Mobile App with Standard Chartered Current/ Savings Account or Standard Chartered Credit Card (except UnionPay Dual Currency Platinum Credit Card). Credit Card only supports SC Pay (FPS) and e-Laisee transfers on SC Mobile App in HKD.
  4. Any transfer by credit card is subject to your available credit card limit and the maximum daily aggregated transfer limit for Non-registered Payee Transfer. More info is available here.
  5. Asia Miles/ 360° Reward Points/ Cash Rebate or any other credit card reward campaign and chargeback right/ protection is not applicable to SC Pay (FPS) and e-Laisee transactions via SC Mobile App by credit card.
  6. Over-limit electronic fund transfer handling fee may apply, if the total accumulated transfer amount exceeds the limit. For details, please refer to here.
