Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

As a part of this endeavour, we are pleased to present the option of Digital Signature Certificate for additional security of online banking transactions.

  1. What Is Digital Signature Certificate?

    Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) are the digital equivalent (i.e electronic format) of physical or paper certificates. Examples of physical certificates are Driving License, Passport or Membership Cards.

    Certificates serve as proof of identity of an individual for a certain purpose; for example, a Driving License identifies someone who can legally drive in a particular country. Likewise, a Digital Signature Certificate can be presented electronically to prove your identity, to access information or services on the Internet or to sign certain documents digitally.

    DSC provides an additional level of safety and security for online banking transactions by digitally verifying the financial transactions and encrypting the information such that only intended parties can read it.

  2. Who issues DSC and what are the different types of DSC?

    A licensed Certifying Authority (CA) issues the Digital Signature Certificate. The CA is someone who has been granted a License to issue a DSC under Section 24 of the Indian IT-Act 2000.

    The list of licensed CAs along with their contact information is available on the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) portal (www.cca.gov.in).

    After procurement of the DSC, the Certificate can be downloaded in to the hard token or can be installed to the PC/Laptop. Please ensure that the token drivers are installed on your system as guided by your Certified Authority.


Standard Chartered Bank Online banking supports Class 3 types of DSCs.

Class 3 Certificates are issued to individuals as well as organisations. As these are high-assurance Certificates primarily intended for e-commerce applications, they shall be issued to individuals only on their personal (physical) appearance before the Certifying Authorities.

Pre-requisites for using DSC Device.

  1. Check whether your Browser/System is installed with Java 6 update 38 and above to support DSC device.
  2. Check your System is enabled with USB device port/mass storage device to support DSC device.
  3. Recommended browsers : Internet Explorer 64 Bit & Chrome 64 Bit

DIGITAL SIGNATURE CERTIFICATE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR ONLINE BANKING


STEP 1 – Login to your Online Banking

STEP 2 – Digital Signature > Register Digital Signature Certificate on the left hand side.

STEP 3 – Accept the Terms & Conditions and Click “Proceed” button.

STEP 4 – Click on button: “Click here to register your certificate”

STEP 5 – Select the Certificate and Click ‘Select’ button

STEP 6 – Input the digital certificate password for authenticating the digital certificate.

STEP 7 – Click on ‘Submit’ button to proceed.

STEP 8 – Enter One Time Password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number and click on “Confirm” button.

STEP 9 – You have successfully registered with the digital certificate.*

The digital certificate registered will be displayed under the ‘Digital Signature’ page.


*If there is name mismatch between digital certificate name and name as per our records then we will process DSC registration request within 2 working days.

STEP 1 – Login to your Online Banking

STEP 2 – Digital Signature > you can view his/her registered certificate here.

STEP 3 – Digital Signature > you can click on “Delink”

STEP 4 – Digital Signature > Click on “Confirm” button

STEP 5 – Enter One Time Password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number and click on “Confirm” button.

STEP 6 – Your Digital Signature will be will de-linked successfully.


Important Note: You cannot transact for the next one hour from the time you confirm your request to delink your Digital Signature. After 1 hour, you can start transacting using OTP as 2nd factor of authentication

1. What is a Digital Signature Certificate?

4. How can I get / procure the DSC?

You have to procure the DSC from the CA. The process of Digital Certificate procurement is available with the certifying authorities like e-Mudhra, Safescrypt, etc. The detailed list of licenced CAs along with their contact information is available on the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) portal (www.cca.gov.in).

5. What are the different types of DSCs valid for using Online Banking?

9. How do I register my Digital Signature in Online Banking?

10. Do I need Digital Signature to login to online banking as well?

No. You don’t need DSC for login to online banking.

11. Where can I use this DSC?

Yes. Once you have successfully registered DSC, you will need it every time as additional layer of security for your online banking transactions.

In case you choose to use the Digital Signature Certificate option in online banking then you will not be permitted to transact Breeze Mobile Apps (Both Android & IOS) and also the mobile banking site (m.sc.com/in).

12. How do I de-link my DSC from Online Banking?

Please note that once your digital signature is de-linked successfully then you will not be allowed to transact using online / mobile banking for next 1 hour. This feature is added for your additional security.

13. How do I log in if I have lost my DSC or its validity has expired?

For login, you don’t need DSC authentication.

14. How do transact using online banking if I have lost my DSC or its validity has expired?

You can login and delink your digital signature without physical DSC available. Further you can re-register same or new DSC on your online banking.

15. How many DSC can be registered online for one online banking ?

You can register only 1 DSC at a time.
