  1. Block USSD Service: This functionality works on ANY mobile phone and allows you to block/blacklist your mobile number from accessing SCB USSD banking service. This is useful when your phone gets stolen or lost.

To activate the service, dial *977*911# and select option 1

  1. Block All Account(s): This functionality allows you to block debit transactions on all accounts and ATM/ Debit cards linked to your registered mobile number. Only customers who are registered on SCB USSD Banking service can use the service from their mobile number.

To activate the service, dial *977*911# from your registered mobile number and select option 2.

*977# USSD Banking is a quick and convenient service that allows you to manage and perform transactions on your SCB account by just dialling *977# from your registered mobile phone number with the Bank. No need for internet data access and it is accessible anytime, anywhere.

This service is available to only individual SCB account holders. Joint account holders and corporate account holders are not eligible to use this service.

To register, simply dial *977# and provide the following details related to your account with SCB;

  • 10-digit account number (Naira)
  • Your Bank Verification Number (BVN)
  • Your date of birth

You will then be required to create your 6-digit USSD Transaction PIN and confirm the PIN. On completion, you will receive a successful registration message.

With *977#, you can perform quick, convenient transactions and services such as:

  • Transfer to SCB accounts
  • Transfer to accounts in other Banks*
  • Balance Inquiry
  • Airtime top-up
  • Data Subscription
  • Bill Payments
  • Mini statement
  • PIN Change and Reset
  • De-registration of USSD Service
  • Blocking of accounts*

*977# provides you access to transact from your Naira account(s) only.

N6.98 USSD session cost is applicable to Funds Transfer, while N100 convenient fee is applicable to Bills Payment transactions.

All transactions completed using *977# are processed in Realtime to your account. Balances provided are your current available balance.

The service will prompt a success page at the end of every successful transaction. You will also receive an SMS or email transaction notification free of charge.

*977# is very secure as only your registered mobile phone number with the bank can access your account. Furthermore, all transactions require your 6-digit PIN for transaction authorisation.

We have also deployed other security services and protocols to protect your account. However, PLEASE DO NOT DISCLOSE YOUR PIN and other sensitive/information account details such as account number, BVN, DOB, etc to 3rd parties.

You can use *977# from any GSM mobile network so long as you’re using the mobile phone number registered on your account. *977# is available on MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9Mobile.

With your USSD Banking Transaction, you can conduct a maximum of ₦20,000 only per transaction and ₦100,000 only a day.

To complete a transaction higher than ₦20,000, you will be required to authorise the transaction with a 2nd PIN called USSD 2nd Level USSD PIN.

2nd Level PIN is the additional 4-digit PIN required to complete every transaction above ₦20,000 on *977# in addition to the 6-digit USSD PIN.

You can obtain your 2nd Level USSD PIN for transactions above ₦20,000 on SC Mobile or iBanking.

  1. On SC Mobile; Login > Open Menu > 2nd Level USSD PIN
  2. On iBanking; Login > Select Account Name > 2FA USSD PIN Mgmt
  3. An OTP will be sent to you to authenticate your request
  4. Create 4-digit 2nd Level USSD PIN, confirm 4-digit 2nd Level USSD PIN

If your mobile phone is stolen or lost, promptly contact SCB Call Centre to deregister your mobile phone number for USSD Banking as a preventive measure. You should also make a report with your mobile phone network provider to get a replacement SIM and reactivate your phone number.

In addition, always inform the bank whenever you change your mobile phone number (or other contact details) or if your mobile phone number becomes inaccessible to you.
