Qualifying Criteria

  1. Only children of active and qualified Priority clients are eligible to partake in this program (A qualified Priority client is a client with a minimum relationship balance of N15m (this covers total balances in current account, savings account, deposits and investments in all currencies).
  2. The termly Reward for As is only applicable to children in Secondary School from Year 7 to Year 12 (JSS 1 – SSS 3)
  3. The Annual Reward for As is only applicable to children in Year 9 and Year 12 (JSS 3 and SSS 3)
  4. Child must hold an active account with Standard Chartered Bank to benefit from the reward program

Reward for A’s is a proposition aimed at spurring children on to excel academically and cultivate a savings habit from a tender age. It is targeted at children of qualified Priority Banking clients. The children are rewarded for good academic performance which serves as an encouragement not only to the child but to the parents as well.

There are two reward categories:

  • Reward for A’s on a termly basis
  • Annual reward for A’s scholarship/Grant (for one student only)

Reward for A’s on a termly basis

  • At the end of each term, parents submit their children’s official report card to the Bank via email to ng@sc.com within the stipulated submission period. The report should have the school’s stamp/signature (if paper report). Where report is received via email from the school, it should be sent to the Bank’s email address using the email trail as received from the school (Standard Chartered Bank reserves the right to verify results from the school if required).
  • For every A scored (per subject) the child gets rewarded with the Naira equivalent of $5. For example, if a child gets 5 As in a term, the child gets rewarded with the Naira equivalent of $25.
  • The reward is credited into the child’s account
  • This amount is left to accumulate to a reasonable level and can be used for Investment.

Annual reward for A’s Grant

  • At the end of the school year, children with a minimum of 8 As earned will be pooled to enter a draw
  • The winner of the draw will be given a grant of the Naira equivalent of $1,000 (one winner only)
  • This is open to children in Year 9 (JSS 3) and Year 11 or 12 depending on the school curriculum (SSS 3)

 

Children of qualified Priority Banking clients currently schooling in Secondary/High schools in Nigeria further defined as follows:

  • Termly Reward for A’s: open to children from Year 7 to Year 12 (JSS1 – SSS3)
  • Annual Reward for A’s: open to Year 9 and Year 12 only (JSS3 & SSS3 only)
  • Children must have an account with Standard Chartered Bank
  • Parents must have NGN15M and above which covers their balances in Current account, Savings account and Investment in all currencies.

Each child/reward recipient will be required to have an active account with Standard Chartered to benefit from the reward program

There is no minimum length of time required.

No, only students in Secondary/High schools in Nigeria are eligible.

The parent can choose to start an investment for the child at any time as long as the child’s account has sufficient funds for the investment. Parents may supplement their ward’s account balances to proceed with an investment, where necessary.

At the sole discretion of Standard Chartered Bank, we may suspend, terminate, or change the terms and requirements of the Reward Program at any time.
