a. Transacting on PESALINK using SCB Online Banking

In order to send out money through PESALINK, you must first create a beneficiary. Below step will be followed:

  1. Log into the SCB Online Banking page
  2. Mouse over the “Dashboard” menu
  3. Select the “Local Transfers” option.
  4. Once the Local transfers page is opened click on the “Add Beneficiary” link. The “Transfers / Add Local Beneficiary” page will be displayed.
  5. Select the “Beneficiary Type” as “Local Other bank Beneficiary
  6. Select “Account Type” as “Mobile Number” (You may also set up beneficiary using account type as “Account Number” in which case you will require account details of the beneficiary).
  7. Populate details of mandatory fields displayed as per account type selection. You may also populate the optional details.
  8. Check the displayed box to instruct whether beneficiary should be notified of transfers on email. If box is checked, e-mail address must be provided.
  9. Click on “Confirm” to review the details entered. If details are ok and you have understood the T&C, check on the tick box and click of “Confirm” to submit the request. Otherwise, you may click on “Back” to amend the details
  10. A One Time Password (OTP) will be sent on your registered mobile number. Enter the number and click “submit” to complete adding new beneficiary
  11. A SMS and e-mail notification will be sent confirming successful registration
  12. The name of the PESALINK beneficiary will appear under the Local Transfers page.
  13. To send out funds on PESALINK, just click on the “PESALINK – Pay to Mobile” link to send to Mobile, or click “Transfer RTGS/PESALINK” to send to Account of the corresponding beneficiary
  14. Select the beneficiary bank (for transfer to mobile)
  15. Check the PESALINK Radio Button (for transfer to account)
  16. Enter the amount you wish to send and the transfer reference then click next.
  17. Confirm the details, and then click “Submit” to complete the transaction. Payment notification will be sent to your registered mobile number and to the beneficiary. Funds will be Credit to bank account specified.
b. Transacting on PESALINK using USSD Mobile Banking
  1. Dial the USSD short code – *722# and enter your 6 digit PIN
  2. Select PesaLink option
  3. Select Send to Phone option to transfer fund using the mobile number of the beneficiary
  4. Select the “Self account” option to view the source account details to select the from account
  5. Select the From Account to transfer funds
  6. Enter the beneficiary/ recipient mobile number which must start with Country Code: 2547********
  7. Select the bank to transfer fund to
  8. Enter the amount to transfer
  9. Enter the reason for payment
  10. Confirm the details, if all the details are correct
  11. Acknowledgement screen – You can select Logout to exit, or you can select Go Home if wish to continue with fund transfer or request for any other services.
a. Transacting on PESALINK using SCB Online Banking

  • PesaLink is a money transfer service from a local Kenya Shillings bank account to another local Kenya Shillings bank account in real-time. It is a collaboration between all local banks who are members of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) and is managed by Integrated Payment Services Limited (IPSL) which is a subsidiary of KBA. PesaLink is real-time, available 24/7 and you can transfer from as low as KES 10 to as high as KES. 999,999. It is also safe since it eliminates the use of cash as a mode of payment.

  • Yes you can send money to another bank if the other person is not registered by using ‘Send to Account’ option. For ‘Send to phone’ option the recipient must be registered on PesaLink otherwise the transaction will fail.

  • Yes you can send money to another bank if you have not registered on PesaLink.

  • Yes you can receive funds into your SCB account. The sender will require your 13 digits Account number.

  • PesaLink will facilitate same currency Funds transfer from KES to KES only.
