What is a Wild Card driver?

Potential is everywhere, but access to opportunity is not always equal. The F1 ACADEMY Wild Card was designed to address this,  providing emerging female drivers with the chance to gain experience in a race weekend. The 2026 F1 ACADEMY race season has eight previous Wild Cards currently occupying full-time seats.

Why F1 ACADEMY

F1 ACADEMY is an all-female Formula 4-level racing series. It was created to increase female representation in motorsport by facilitating a dedicated pathway for young women to progress from karting to higher formula levels such as F3, F2 and, ultimately, F1®.

Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 ACADEMY and a pioneer in motorsport, met with Standard Chartered’s Judy Hsu and Tanuj Kapilashrami at the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN CHINESE GRAND PRIX 2026.
