Embarking on a career is like setting sail on an adventure, and for Soumya Dutta, joining Standard Chartered in 2018 was the beginning of an inspiring voyage. As a Priority Relationship Manager, Soumya’s journey has been filled with growth, learning, and a deep-rooted sense of purpose.

Carrying forward a family legacy

For Soumya, choosing a career at Standard Chartered wasn’t just a professional decision—it was a continuation of her family’s legacy. As the fourth generation to work at the bank, Soumya’s connection to Standard Chartered is both personal and profound. Her great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all walked the halls of this prestigious institution, and their stories of the bank’s grandeur inspired her from a young age.

A journey of growth

Soumya began her career in a small branch in Kolkata, managing a portfolio of 100 clients as the youngest team member. Her dedication and hard work quickly paid off, leading her to a larger branch within a year. After four years of excelling in Kolkata, Soumya took her talents to Hyderabad, continuing her role with even more responsibilities.

Reflecting on her journey, Soumya appreciates the dynamic and fast-paced environment at Standard Chartered. The opportunity to work with cross-functional teams and stay updated with industry trends has been invaluable. Leveraging technology to meet clients’ evolving needs has also been a rewarding part of her role.

Celebrating success

One of the standout moments in Soumya’s career was being part of the CEO Challenge 2024 winner group. This incredible achievement took her to Cape Town, South Africa, for an unforgettable R&R trip. Soumya describes it as “luxury at its best,” where she had the opportunity to meet top performers from around the world, exchange ideas, and brainstorm in a truly grand setting.
