Finding her passion and strength

In just 1.5 years, she transitioned from an Affluent Service Relationship Manager, a client-facing role, to a Case Investigation Specialist, a back-office position that combines strategic thinking with investigative prowess. Her story is a testament to the power of curiosity, determination, and the opportunities provided by an organization that values its employees’ aspirations and skills.
Starting out as an Affluent Service Relationship Manager
Starting her career at Standard Chartered in 2023, Jobelle initially worked as a Service Relationship Manager, assisting clients with credit card issues, transactions, and wealth needs. She gained deep insights into client behavior and problem-solving. These experiences became the foundation for her eventual move into compliance, a field she had always been intrigued by but never imagined herself pursuing.

Transferring to an Investigation and Compliance Role
After 18 months in her first role, Jobelle discovered an opening for a Case Investigation Specialist within the bank. Though hesitant at first due to the specialised qualifications required, her love for crime and mystery cases fuelled her decision to apply. “I’ve always had a detective mindset,” she shares. “When I saw the job description, I realised this could be my chance to turn my passion into a career.” Supported by a welcoming team and robust training resources, Jobelle quickly adapted to the role and found herself thriving in an environment that challenged her intellect and creativity.
The power of internal deployment – finding her passion and strength
As a Case Investigation Specialist, Jobelle delves into real-life crime typologies such as scams, frauds, and money-mule cases. She investigates suspicious transactions, assesses risks, and makes critical decisions to protect clients while ensuring compliance with local authorities. The hybrid nature of her role allows her to balance dynamic challenges with a healthy work-life equilibrium. “It’s not just a job, it’s an exhilarating opportunity to explore my strengths and contribute meaningfully,” she says.
Personalized career development: A testament to Standard Chartered’ s commitment
Jobelle describes life at Standard Chartered with three words: opportunities, growth, and connectivity. Her internal deployment experience was a testament to the bank’s commitment to personalized career development.
