Catherine Tinavapi

Catherine joined Standard Chartered Bank in September 2016 and is the Regional Head of Market Insights for the AME region based in Johannesburg. In this role Catherine oversees, industry engagement, regulatory affairs, advocacy and client communication for the custody and securities product. Catherine’s career experience includes in-house legal advisory in transactional banking, client service management, product management, and management consulting. Catherine has a strong interest in the product, legal and regulatory responses to technological advances in the financial industry.

Catherine is an industry though leader and devotes significant effort into industry and market development initiatives and contributes directly and extensively towards market regulatory development and the establishment of progressive market standards and conventions in the Africa region.

Catherine also invests time into providing leadership, mentorship, and counsel in the non-profit sector where her board participation is in the areas of education and enterprise development and women’s empowerment.
