Diego De Giorgi

Diego De Giorgi is Group Chief Financial Officer at Standard Chartered.

Appointed

Diego De Giorgi was Group Chief Financial Officer (GCFO) from January 2024 to February 2026, having been appointed to Standard Chartered PLC in September 2023.

He stepped down from his role as Executive Director and GCFO on 10 February 2026.

Experience

Diego has more than three decades of experience in the global financial services sector. He has managed client-facing portfolios across UK, Europe, the US, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. This has helped him build a strong understanding of the complexity of delivering across diverse markets.

Career

Diego spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs – eight as partner – holding leadership roles in the Equity Capital Markets Group and the Financial Institutions Group before becoming the Chief Operating Officer for the Global Investment Banking division.

Following this, he moved to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he spent six years, rising to Head of Global Investment Banking. He served on the Board of Directors at UniCredit as a Non-Executive Director, and was a member of their Compensation Committee, in 2020-2021.

From 2021 to 2023, Diego was the Co-Chief Executive of Pegasus Europe, Europe’s largest-ever special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC), which was focused on the financial services sector and was listed on Euronext Amsterdam.

External appointments

Diego also sits on the Board of the MIB Trieste School of Management.
