Naveen Mallela

Naveen Mallela is the Global Head of Payments at Standard Chartered and is responsible for leading the bank’s integrated payments organisation globally.

He has over 25 years of experience in global transaction banking and payments innovation, with a strong track record of modernising payment infrastructure and scaling next‑generation solutions. In his role, Naveen oversees the end‑to‑end payments business and leads the design and delivery of solutions across the full payments lifecycle spanning traditional payment rails as well as emerging tokenised and on‑chain payment flows.

Naveen plays a central role in advancing Standard Chartered’s ambition to build a scalable, product‑led payments franchise. This includes enhancing the bank’s ability to support clients operating across increasingly integrated global and digital payment ecosystems, and enabling more seamless, efficient, and future‑ready cross‑border transactions.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Naveen was at J.P. Morgan Chase, where he served as Global Co‑Head of Kinexys (formerly Onyx). In the role, he focused on real‑time, 24/7 cross‑border payments and digital asset settlement, helping to drive the convergence of traditional financial infrastructure with emerging digital technologies.
