Raymond Cheng

Chief Investment Officer, North Asia

Raymond Cheng is the Bank’s Chief Investment Officer, North Asia. He leads a team of investment strategists across mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea to champion the CIO office’s views internally and externally across the Affluent segment in the region.

Raymond joined from JP Morgan Private Bank, where he was a Managing Director and functioned as the Head of Asia Equity Strategy for most of his tenure to develop equity and cross-asset thematic investment views. Prior to that, Raymond was Head of Research at Bank of Communications International, and Bank of China International. He was consistently ranked among the top China/HK strategists by Asiamoney Broker Poll during those years. He had also served as a Senior Portfolio Manager with Mirae Asset Global Investment, managing several regional and China equity mandates. His views have been widely followed by clients and media worldwide.

Raymond hails from Hong Kong, while he studied and started his career in financial and equity analyses in North America in his earlier years. He has a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto. He is a CPA and CFA charterholder.
