Standard Chartered appoints Shebani Baweja as Group Chief Data Officer
Singapore – Standard Chartered today announced the appointment of Shebani Baweja as Group Chief Data Officer (CDO) with immediate effect. Shebani will be reporting to Alvaro Garrido, Chief Operating Officer for Technology & Operations (T&O) and Chief Information Officer for Information Security & Data, and will be based in Singapore.
As Group CDO, Shebani will lead the Group Data Office and continue to shape the Bank’s data strategy, setting the direction for how data is governed, managed and used across the organisation. She will oversee its execution by building strong data foundations, embedding consistent practices, and accelerating the use of data and analytics to support growth, innovation and better decision-making.
Shebani brings with her more than 20 years of experience and a proven track record in driving data-led digital transformations. Since joining the Bank in 2008, Shebani has held senior roles across Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) and T&O transformation. Most recently as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for WRB and International Markets, she led the cyber risk strategy, strengthening controls and governance to protect clients, enable business growth and support digitisation.
